Walmart does not have senior discounts.

First off let me thank you for being a lyoal customer to our stores. As a manager i get this question all the time in my store as we have scaled down our fabrics department. All i can offer is what I have been told and what I have seen. I have been informed the reason we as a company are scaling down or removing the fabrics department is the decline in the category as a whole. If it is costing more money to run the department then it is making then that is a loss to the company and could be possibly removed. The company is doing the same thing with the photo lab. Due to digital pictures and people printing at home there is no need to develope pictures in our store anymore as it cost more to have it staffed and the chemicals involved are not cheap either. We would rather take these associates and put them where they can best help our customers. Now as far as keeping your craft department the only thing i have seen succeed was in a store in Iowa. The people wanted to keep the fabric so they all called 1800walmart and in the end they got a smaller fabrics department but it was still sufficiant for the company as well as the customers. This may not be the answer you wanted but it is the best one i can give and one you will probably hear from you local store management.
