Customer Questions & Answers for
Fisher-Price Fisher-Price Elmo Live

Wow your kids and make them giggle with Elmo Live! This lifelike creation is as close to a real muppet as you can get. Elmo seems to actually come alive as he opens and closes his mouth and his head bobbles back and forth with the same mannerism as the muppet Elmo from Sesame Street. Kids will be captivated as they watch Elmo Live act out his song and dance routine. Elmo waves his arms, sits and stands, even crosses his legs while telling stories and jokes, singing and playing games. Children can also make the magic happen with a tickle or a squeeze of Elmo's foot, tummy, back or nose.

Question
How long do Elmo's batteries last?
After three days of use Elmo stops mid sentence while telling stories or dancing and I'm not sure if his batteries are running low or if my Elmo has some sort of defect. Up until today Elmo was working just fine . I know he does a lot so he may go through batteries rather quickly, but three days seems a little too quick.

The same thing happened with my son's Elmo doll, and I replaced the batteries in it. Because my son's are only 7 months, I am the one who pushes the buttons for them, so I know it is not being used roughly. They love it, so against my better judgement, I am going to see if I can exchange it for a diffrent one and hope for the best!

I have a lot of elmo dolls and it seems that when the battery is going low, it doesn't finish whatever it may be saying. So I would say yes check the batteries. Three days is very short but when they are in the store people push the buttons to see what it does. Always try to go for the ones in the back so that you don't get the display per say.

My son plays with his Elmo every day almost all day long and he's had it for about 4-5 days now. We have had no problems with the battery. Maybe it's a defective Battery or maybe the Elmo was knocked down one too many times, I know my son knocks him down over and over and smacks him against things. Maybe something like that happened???

Is this elmo really that bad? People keep talking about the gears making loud noises.

We were very disappointed with Elmo and ended up returning it. The gears were loud and stripped out in his head within the first few uses. He falls down if you don't get the stool positioned just right behind his legs. Not an appropriate toy for an active toddler, more something to sit and watch. We exchanged for Up Up Elmo, which was much cheaper and my son LOVES it.

They seem to be a lot louder when you first start using the toy, as opposed to when it's been played with over time. I'm assuming that, like many toys similar to this one, it simply needs to be broken in. And I agree that you can ignore it if you're paying attention to what the toy is doing/saying. And besides, I'm sure the kids playing with the toy don't mind it at all because they're listening to Elmo and watching all that he does!! Who cares if it bothers us parents a little if it makes them happy?

You can hear them, but they are really not that bad considering everything that Elmo does. I had never really even paid attention to them until I read your question.

I got it for my dad for his birthday in october. hes a really big elmo fan. and it didnt do much. it did stand and sit. and say "look no cavities" and thats it. i was waiting for the story telling and the game playing but there was nothing. i tried all the sensors and its nothing new. i wanted to take it back but my dad said it was ok. i was disappointed for paying 60 bucks for something so not worth it.

There are four sensors, his back, foot, stomach, and nose. I purchased this toy for grandaughter's 2nd birthday. She seemed a little frightened by Elmo at first. She did warm up to it but only played with it for a few minutes and then it was in the toy box. The sensors on ours are also hard to activate and the noise the gears make overshadows what Elmo is saying. Highly overated toy in my opinion.

There is a strip to be pulled off to actvate him fully. He could work in the box after that, but it would be difficult for him to stand & wave his arms about inside the box.

Yes, you will need to remove him from the box in orderr for him to do everything he was made to do. There will most likely be a switch that you set to "on" once you have him out of the box.

I bought this for my two year old and was very disappointed. It is poorly constructed and not made to handle the throws of a toddler! It is a neat toy to just sit and watch, but not to interact with. We returned it within a few days as the gears started stripping and his head was clicking. We exchanged it for Up Up Elmo, which my son can carry around and interact with more appropriately.

answer 2
If your grandson loves Elmo, then I'm sure he would really like this toy! And a lot of what Elmo says/sings/does might even make more sense to him than it would to younger toddlers. Also, there is a review above from a mother of an 8 month old and 3 year old and she states that they BOTH love it. I think it would be an appropriate toy for any young child who likes Elmo. Hope that helps!! Happy Holidays!
