In the freestyle mode you can play without music. It is no different than a video camera..just no sound. Depending on the age group I would reccomend. My daughter is 3 and loves it. It wouldn't be worth the $50, now $40 but our store clearance it out to a really good deal so I bought it. My daughter loves it.

I'm not sure, it does have 3 different modes, cool dance, freestyle, and one other option. Maybe the freestyle is without music. Not sure we've only had it two days.

Yes an MP3 Player can be hooked up to the Dance Cam so they do not hear the prerecorded songs all the time.

yes you can hook up an MP3 player to it. It has like an earphone plug to plug it in to your MP3 player

I just bought one for my niece (3 yr old) and my sister said it works great. You definitely need to use it on a smaller TV. I think it says to use 27 in tv or smaller. I was worried it wouldn't work but they all seem happy with it.
