I would assume First Alert has taken this in consideration. I wold advise replacing the old base with the new one for esthetics.

The wall or ceiling adapter is enclosed in the package. Just remove the old one from the wall or ceiling and screw the new one in its place. If the plug adapters are different than those supplied with the new unit then simply cut the old connector and wires from the the older unit and connect them to the new unit and plug into the connector that exists in the receptacle box.

That is the model that I replaced 4919 that was 9 yrs. old.
Yes! It does have a new bracket and the wiring harness is the same as the old one.

This has a battery back up while the old one didn't but remember to REVERSE the position of the battery from what you see in the package and point the contacts toward the inside; they don't show or explain that in the instructions. When I installed mine it kept chirping and I couldn't understand it until I REVERSED THE BATTERY.
Good Luck! I hoped this helped?

I am an Electrician, and yes, all new smoke heads come with a new base mounting plate... I'm pretty sure it will not fit on an older unit's base...

It's comprable to that unit and the foot print is the same. But the parts don't interchange. Replace the entire unit base and all.

Yes; as long as the battery is replaced when the unit indicates to do so!
Keep a spare battery on hand. It's a small expense to avoid an unfortunate life ending event.

Yes. The battery back up will become operational as soon as the regular electric current goes off.
I highly recommend that you change the battery at least once a year with a quality battery.

Question

FireX FADC compatable?

We have several Firex FADC smoke detectors and want to replace the ones that chirp "every 30 seconds". Chirps every 60 sec mean change battery. Chirps every 30 sec mean replace detector. Has anyone used these to replace their Firex smoke detectors with 3 pin plug?

The one you are talking about is the same as the Kiddie which was of the same type but not brand as the ones I had. This First Alert comes with a few adaptor plugs. One of which is the three pin plug.

Yes. I used this model to replace a Firex. I cut the plug off the older Firex and connected it to the new unit and plugged the connectors together. Works fine. Generally the black and white wires are the ones used but, if you have the detectors in series, that is, connected to other smoke alarms then you would also use the orange to accomplish activation of another alarm in series.

My old Firex Alarms came down and I bought 3 of these and they went right in. The adapter that worked did not seem to be a perfect fit, but they are all up now for a couple of months and I can see the green light is lit and every week they have passed the test button with no issues.

I can't answer this question because I'm not familliar with that unit in question. I can answer that this unit comes with three different adapters to interconnect with various base plugs. I how ever chose not to use them and used the standard plug with the unit which I wired into the house circuit as the old one was. My old detectors had a modular base plug. This First Alert came with that adapter.

Yes, we just bought 6 of the First Alert Model SA9120BPCN to replace our old BRK 4120s. You don't even need the adapters that come with them. As-is they are the same connector as the BRKs.

So that If one activates, they all go off. Early warning. If the one in the basement goes off due to fire, and both the basement door and your bedroom door on the third floor are closed, you might not hear the alarm until it's too late. If the basement activates the entire house, you should hear it even if the doors are closed.
