Is the very strong chemical odor and taste normal?
We recently purchased Great Value Distilled Water with a best buy date of 03-12-15
The water was bottled with water sourced in Spanaway, Washington by Richardson Bottling Company, Tacoma, WA
This water had a strong chemical smell, similar to wet paint or a very strong plastic.
We have never smelled or tasted such a strong smell in any other water or liquid we've ever purchased in a HDPE 2 (milk jug) type container.

on Great Value: Distilled Water, 1 Gal
Drinking water contains various trace minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Distilled water tastes differently due to the removal of such minerals.
We appreciate you letting us know about your experience. We would love for you to contact our Great Value Hotline directly at 877-505-2267 and provide us with the barcode number and any other details that may help us to identify the product so we will be able to research this issue further, as we have multiple suppliers that manufacture our products.
It is hard to tell where or how any company that sells "purified" or (distilled) water treats the water they put out. There should not be any kind of smell or taste from a sealed container. If you smell or taste anything from a bottle of distilled water, return it immediately to where you got it and try another bottle while a manager of the store watching, open another bottle and smell it and even taste it...if the second bottle smells and tasts the same try a different brand and and then go home and email or call the company that bottled the offending product and inform them.
