base plus three higher levels. My 14# cats runs and leaps onto it and swings around it, like a stripper pole. The pole does sway a few inches, but the only replacement needed after 1.5 years is staple new carpeting onto it.

This tree has a base platform which sits on a floor and 3 more platforms. They can sit on any of them :) But this tree is way too small for your kitties. My 2 girls one is 6.2lb and another is 7.5 lb could use them for climbing only. Not for sitting on any of those platforms

It has 3 levels. I have 2 eighteen pound cats who play on it all the time. As long as you make sure to screw the bolts in tightly, the tree is sturdy, although it does wobble a little when they play rough and fast, but that's part of the fun:). I've purchased these for 10 years now and none have fallen. Just realize, that these trees were only made to last about a year and then they need to be replaced, otherwise they will definitely eventually collapse or fall over.

I would not recommend this for large cats. I have one maincoone, and he is light for his breed weighing in at 13 pounds and I had to throw this cat tree out today after 6 months because the tree could not withstand the weight of our cats. It started bending and tilting the first time he got on it.

My two yr old boy cats (8# and 15#) have used it for 1.5 yrs. The pole sways a little when they make flying leaps onto it, put I think that makes it even more wild and attractive for them. They race up and down continuously. At the top shelf, they try to figure out how to get past the ceiling to another level. THIS IS NOT A VIDEO GAME! THERE IS NO HIGHER LEVEL! They do love it!

I have a 18lbs huge male cat (you wouldn't believe it, but he's not fat!) and he loves to run up and down it, and perch at the top, or claw at the bottom. I did have to bolt it into the wall with some hardawre from lowes because of the stability issues, but he absolutely loves it! Cat's don't come to much bigger than he does. I've had this tree since early December, and it's still in great shape (other than the carpet at the bottom). Hope this helps!

My ceilings are 9 feet high. This comes with a spring like rod with a cap on top. This is inserted inside the top pole. Use a ladder, because once you have the tree were you wanted you need to push the cap down then release .

NO. it says up to 8' or 9'. but that is with the long pvc pipes that go with it. the tree itself is 7'. so with the whole tree stand depending on that tension part, it doesnt work with my 7' ceiling. i had to wrap wire around the base and basically bolt it to the wall so it wouldnt tip over.

Yes. You will probably have to trim the pvc at the top to size. the top piece has a spring inside it with 2 choices of pvc pipe to use and a connector if you need both. I only needed one. You will probably have to saw yours to size.

Will this product collapse easily for a move or transfer?

answer 3
It is NOT a sturdy product, even if you do not move it! On the other hand, if you have placed it in a place that gives it support (such as against a wall, and another piece of furniture (or in a corner)), you are apt to be able to easily dismantle it for moving, and then reassemble it in your new place.

Just keep in mind that it was not made to be sturdy in the first place, and the odds are high that each time you dismantle it, it will become more unstable.

I would consider the floor space and funds you are apt to have available. If both are limited, AND you can place it in a secure location, you have at least one move that it will make, if not more; plus have the ease of putting it up (a SNAP!). If you have more floor space and funds initially available, then I would go with a sturdier product. It will not only cost more, but you are apt to have to dedicate more time and effort to dismantle and reassemble it, but you will not have to purchase replacements as often.

answer 4
This product is easy to assemble and disassemble. Just remember, it cannot be used in a room with a drop ceiling. Otherwise, the sections easily unscrew from each other, 4 platforms (including the base), and 4 uprights tubes. Three of the tubes are interchangeable, and they can be used with either end as the top. The upper most tube has the spring that holds it all erect so that's the only unit that has only one position.

The hard plastic plunger provides a horizontal "piston" face that presses up to the ceiling. You would have to make up your own "wedge" to make the transition. But the "wedge" would have to be fixed to the ceiling, or else the spring force would push up against any slant and force the pole out of vertical position, falling down.

If you cat likes to lounge at the top, I would not cut that section. Most likely cats don't want to limit themselves to the bottom, so if it were me, I would cut the bottom cylinder. Just make sure you are left with a very tight fit after cutting down so you don't sacrifice stability.

i thought the same thing - you really need to push down hard with the topper piece and not use any of the addtl tubes. it would of been easier if i had a helper, but standing on a ladder allowed me to push down hard enough to fit the 8 ft ceiling.

Well, the instructions suggest cutting the actually tube of carpet... but I didn't want to because I wanted my cats to have more climbing area...I cut the white plastic extension. I took a sharp knife...careful...to make a groove in it... and then, I used a craft scissor and directed into the hole area of the tube and cut it in three areas.. then, wiggled the three pieces separately... it worked nicely... but you may have to do both... you do need to use the top one for the spring tension to maintain the position of the tree. If you cut a tube follow the directions sheet.... cut the tube without the spring input.

answer 5
I wouldn't cut any piece. Each piece has a screw hole on both ends to put the unit together. If your smart you'll just take it back and get something sturdier. Its going to fall apart in the middle anyway when the cat jumps on it.
answered 1 year, 8 months ago
By
stp162

You can eliminate one of the middle ledges and tubes to reduce the height. Need the top one with the spring plunger to hold tension against the ceiling. Lower three levels are all the same.
