The units for motorcycles are expensive.I'm looking for one myself for my bike and I'm going to get a regular unit and I'll just be carefull about rain or wet conditions.A ziplock bag over the unit may work to keep it dry and you may be able to see the display.

First of all the unit is not water proof, but yes you can use it for motorcycles. You will have to look for a mount for your bike. I have a "RAM". The 780 has an FM Transmitter so the directions will play over the radio and through your halmet headset if you have one. I have a friend that has one and when I saw what all it did I got one for me. So the answer to your question is yes it can and the features of the 780 will work well if you have or install a lighter connection.

I would be careful using a car GPS for big trucks.It could route you down a road where trucks are not allowed.

Just about all GPS's allow you to type in an address and can then compute a route to that location. This is one of the basic functions that a GPS does. Where Garmin GPS's like the nuvi 780 shine is in locating points of interest (like a grocery store, drug store, church, business, etc.). Garmin has over 5,000 points of interest across the US, most GPSs have far fewer. If your looking for a Walmart store, you can go to points of interest, without knowing the address of a walmart store, select "spell name" and enter "Walmart". It will give you a list of Walmart stores starting with the closest one. Select one of the stores from the list and it will give you the address and phone number of that store. Select "GO" and it will compute a route to that store. and you did not even need to know the address!
