The stop light is located (snaps into) right next to the station beside the train switch (stop Lever). The light color changes when the switch is flipped to stop or start the train. It does not "change" the path of the train only stops or lets it go. You can go to step2.com and download the assembly instructions and see the light and where it goes.

I finally decided to buy both products and figure out what the big difference is. The Canyon table is a bit bigger - this table can nestle inside of it (without the train station and bridge in). The Canyon table has a few more train path options. In my opinion though, the Canyon table is not "better" enough to warrant paying almost twice as much! We chose to keep this table! Plus, this one has a running, moving train which my boys LOVE! The other table doesn't have that!

It says it works with all Thomas trains, Matchbox cars, etc. We have run Matchbox cars and little cars that we have on it, and they work fine.

Only a few of the accessories are snapped down, so anything you want to put on it would work.
