Is the black backing black on both sides?
I want to display 8 x 10 inch photos in the frame, and I would like to have a black border around them. If I used double-stick tape to secure the photos to the backing, what color will the border around the photos be? Would it look nice, or does the backing of the frame look trashy when exposed from the font?

An option for you would be construction paper.

You would see the front. You should use a paper of border of some sort to not see the back. You insert picture in the front of the frame.

It is NOT black on both sides.

The backing is brown. I don't think it would look great.

If you took out the other cardboard, you could mostly likely squeeze it in there.
There is no backing. These frames are like poster frames. The picture or photo needs to fill the entire frame.
This particular frame is designed for a 11 x 14 photo. If you want to frame a smaller (8 x 10) photo in this frame, you will need a mat that fits inside the frame with an 8 x 10 opening (otherwise the backing of the frame will show from the front and will not look nice). P.S. Walmart also has some beautiful frames with mats specifically made for 8 x 10 photos.
