Questions & Answers for Great Value Great Value Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt, 32 oz

Question

Is the date on the yogurt lid a 'use by' or 'sell by' date?

We recommend consuming the product by the date listed on the package for best quality. In general, we recommend consuming this product within 2-3 days after opening to maintain product quality.

It is a sell by date. If it is a few days past the date, then the smell is your best bet to test for spoilage. I won't ever consume milk products that's more than 6 days past the sell-by date though, except for the obviously freezable cheese. I suppose you could freeze milk or yogurt. Honestly, I'm not sure. Hmmm, a question within the answer, how peculiar.

Unfortunately, since we have multiple suppliers for this product we cannot accurately inform you if it contains gluten, however, if the product is gluten free the statement "Naturally Gluten Free" will be on the label.

Question

As of today (12/2/12) there are still no live culture references. We eat yogurt for the live cultures.

Please confirm all Walmart yogurt choices contain live cultures. The ingredients listed above do not reference any live cultures.

Great Value yogurts contain live & active cultures, but do not carry the LAC seal. They contain Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus Bulgaricus and Lactobacillus Acidophilus. The exact number is not available. The yogurts do not contain Bifidus Regularis. This culture is only found in Activia products.

Our Great Value Yogurt still contains live and active cultures. The cultures lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium are in the lite fat free yogurt. The nutrition facts and ingredient lists have been changed to better match the national brand products.

Since we are in the process of retesting our Great Value Yogurts for the LAC seal requirements, we have elected to remove the seal from our packaging until the testing is complete. Though our products currently do not display the LAC seal on the packaging, please be assured that Great Value yogurts still contain high amounts of the following live and active cultures: S. thermophilus and L. bulgaricus, and also contain L. acidophilus.
