Question

Is there any setup that is required? I bought two of these and there's nothing to tell you how to make it to receive signal from the intended set.

Does one just turn it on and it will automatically search for the set that is playing or what needs to be done so that it can receive signal from the intended set?

I wondered the same thing, but I just turned them on made sure the IR setting was turned to on using my DVD remote, and they were working great!

I put batteries in, turned it on, and it worked with our 2007 hyundai santa fe dvd player.

These assume there is one dvd player in the car. If you have two, you need a dual channel set with an a/b switch to select the one you want.

If your system is IR wireless then all you have to do is put the batteries in and turn them on and they receive the signal and start working right away.

Question

I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, will I be able to listen to the radio thru the speakers while dvd is thru headphones?

I do not have an A/B option for dual dvd players, just the option to have the dvd run thru headphones and the speakers can then play other audio. Would it be necessary for me to buy dual channel headphones to have this option? Thanks in advance!

I don't have the same car, but once I turn the DVD players power source on and turn on the head phone it automatically turns off the rear speakers and I can listen to radio or XM in the front speakers

Does your DVD player have the channel button you have to turn on and select a low frequency channel to hear the movie through? If so, then yes...you can hear the movie through the headphones, and listen to the radio as normal. Just don't turn on the little thing that sends it through your radio stations to play over your speakers. If the DVD player is wired straight to your speakers...I am not sure. Mine has to play on a station.

if you connect an ir transmitter to your tv you can expect 20' but only line of sight, no obstructions. There has to be "visual" connection between headset and transmitter.

Only if you hook up an IR (infrared) transmitter to your laptop. Don't bother, get a wired headset.

If your laptop is older than the hills it might have a built in IR (Infra Red)port but if not you would need to add a USB to IR adapter to it then they would work.

I haven't had any trouble at 20' or so, they are line-of-sight. The IR receiver on the headset has to see the transmitter wherever it is.

I have not seen anything in reviews where this does not work as long as you have a single DVD player.

If you have two, you need dual channel phones with an a/b switch to select which one to listen to.

My monitor is also a flip down monitor. All that I had to do to make them work was to make sure I had pushed IR button with the DVD's remote control. Hope this helps.
