That's a great bit of advise from CairoSupreme, my PS3 had 13 hours of playtime on it (a little over a year after purchase) and it quit running. It would turn on and boot up, but wouldn't recognize the disk. If my wife hadn't bought the 2 year protection plan then we'd have been out $500. Make sure you buy the protection plan. Yeah, and once again, you don't need an aftermarket cooler, just make sure your PS3 can breathe!!!

No. The product was designed to prevent the PS3 from overheating. Read my product review. If the PS3 is placed in an open area you will not have no issues. It is also best to purchase the PS3 with some type of product protection plan just in case.
