Customer Questions & Answers for
Polaroid 42'' Class Full-HD 1080p LCD HDTV

This advanced model offers a tuner that can receive conventional analog channels (NTSC), as well as digital channels (ATSC), including over-the-air HDTV broadcasts where available and unscrambled digital cable channels. An HDMI port and a variety of other inputs make it simple to connect DVD players, camcorders, or digital cameras. Includes wireless remote control. Note: You must have a source of HD programming in order to take full advantage of an HDTV. Otherwise, the picture quality of an HDTV without an HD source may not be much better than that of a standard-definition TV. Please contact your local cable or satellite TV provider for details on how to upgrade to HD programming.

You don't need anything other than a roof top antenna or rabbit ears (depending on where you live) to receive your local channels (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, MNT, CW) in HD.

It HAS an HD tuner inside. Chances are the big network affiliates near you are already broadcasting an HD signal. You might pick most of them up with a digital-ready "rabbit ears." Most home TV antennas will pick them up as well. If you don't have an antenna and go to the store now, most antennas being sold are "Digital-ready."

Hope this Helps

There are three choices in order to get HD service: #1 Cable (monthly service), #2 Satelite (monthly service) or #3 an HD Antenna (antenna costs Between $20 to $50, no monthly service charges). You don't need a converter box either, the TV has both HD and analog antenna capabilities built into it.

this a "Full HD" set and will receive and display HD. If you have cable you DO NOT need to buy an HD set, your cable provider receives and converts HD for you so that it will run on your old sets. If, however, you do not have cable,ie you tend to use balled up aluminium, wire hangers, have your girlfriend stand there holding the remains of the antenna stub ... then yes you will have to get an antenna

I have seen these sets in the store and they have excellent picture quality. Colors are rich and deep and I dont know what Poloroid does but their picture is by far the brightest of all, even the high end sets. Resolution is not as sharp as that of a Sharp or Samsung but relatively it is still "very good". Considering the price its an EXCELLENT VALUE.

Only if your 11 year old remembers to turn it off after every use. There have been some reviews where the TV quit working and was damaged by heat. I recommend you buy the extended warranty from wal-mart if you buy this just in case.

The best way to connect a computer to a HDTV is by connecting the DVI output of a computer to the HDMI input of the TV using a DVI to HDMI cable which you can get for a decent price at MonoPrice.Com

Question

Is it really 45.28" wide?

The Specifications list the size as "45.28 x 36.62 x 9.06". However, this seems unusually wide for a 46" HDTV. Are these the dimensions for the box it ships in, or for the TV itself?

If you will read the specs again, you will notice the tv viewing area is approximately 42". The 45.28" measurement is the actual OUTSIDE diameter of the whole cabinet.

The standard dvd will output a max of 720p(or slower-1080i) with a newer "upconvert" HDMI dvd player. An older player can/will apear dark and blacks will show signs of pixalization. If you currently own an xbox 360 or sony ps3, they will act as an "upconvert" dvd player. (MUST USE HDMI-AND CHANGE THE OUTPUT SETTINGS OF THE SYSTEM)

Since its not listed I would assume it is not 120mH. And, in reference to the above answer, I believe the question is in reference to the refresh rate, that affects primarily the viewing of action scences where there may be blurring if it is not 120mH.
