To reset the data collected by the watch you must be in heart monitor/chronograph mode which is the first mode you get to by pressing the mode button once when in std watch mode.
If the timer is running, press and hold the SS button till it stops. Make sure that you hold long enough to stop the timer and not just switch to the next lap. Once the timer is stopped and the watch is no longer collecting data, press and hold the reset button for 2 seconds. This will reset all the counters; time below zone, time in zone, time above zone, calories burned, fat burned, etc. This also clears the counters displayed in the memory mode which is merely a re-display of data collected in the monitor/chronograph mode.

Pressing Reset or SS by accident while working out would make me mad because all the entries would be erased... so I used my common sense and =D I figured out how to reset the watch, you just have to press and hold SS + Reset buttons at the same time. This way you won't erase your entry by accident.
Hope this helps!

I WISH I could figure this out - I'm with you! I spend more time trying to reset it sometimes than I do working out. It's aggravating - all I get are more and more laps. I wish the instructions were clearer in this regard.
The caloric burn is REALLY generous - but I just use it as a general guide anyway.
