most bedroom door ways will not need any of the extensions. a hallway or livingroom, kitchen openings may need the extensions. I use in my hallway and only have to use the small extension. The reach on the screw in ends are pretty long.

yes, but it comes with 2 extentions. So the gate goes 29 inches by itself and then upto 44 inches.

•Includes 4 and 6 inch extensions and expands from 29 to 44 inches wide.
•Pressure mount installation system.

No, I have a 33.5" doorway and the smaller extension barely fits (there is no gap between the wall and the last vertical column). You need about 32.5" to get an extension in there.

Question

Can a dog climb over this gate?

Our Beagle can climb a 32" gate because it has wire going up and down and across. I was wondering if it is harder for a dog to climb up if the metal bars just go up and down.

A smaller dog can't. A large dog might be able to jump over it. If you have hard wood floors, they usually can't find the footing to get a good jump. To slippery. If you have carpets, they might be able to get their footing enough to get a running start but most dogs inless they are REALLY food driven would not bother. If you have a large dog that you are worried about jumping over it, you can also instal it several inches off the floor to give it the extra hight you need to keep him/her from jumping it. Hope this helps.

I have two cocker spaniels, around 25 pounds. One that can jump pretty high. Neither have been able to climb over or jump over. I have a small yorkie/maltese mix, which is also a jumper and climber, and he has not been able to get over the gate either. My yorkie / maltese mix weights about 10 pounds and he can climb a baby gate but this having the bars up and down and nothing for him to really get a foot hold keeps him from being able to climb up the gate.

The only crossbar this gate has is for the pet pass-through. If your beagle is agile, it may be possible - but Difficult -for it to climb. The vertical bars make this gate very difficult to climb!

About 3 1/2 inches wide. I wouldn't think a large rabbit could slip through, but definitely a dwarf rabbit. You could always try it out and watch closely to make sure it can't get through. If it doesn't work, you can always return it.

Depending on how large the rabbit is, I would say it would be a close call. The slats are close, but my dog's muzzle can easily fit thru it. If the rabbit is on the smaller side, it might get stuck trying to jump thru the gate. If the rabbit is on the larger side, I would say you'd be ok.

I have to keep my older cat seperated from my new kitten while I'm at work. I'd like to use a gate that has a pet door (so she can get out while I'm home) but I'm worried she'll be able to climb out of this. Do the verticle smooth bars prevent this?

Smaller kittens would be able to go though the slates. Cats in their prime to older would be able to jump over the gate. I have two cats and sometimes they go through the little door and other times just for fun they jump over the gate. This would not keep your older cat from the kittens. Since they are older now, they may even be able to jump over it them selves. They start to do that pretty early. Good luck.

The gate comes with mountable "cups" for door facings. They are plastic...it may not hold a 110lb Rottie. Not sure - yet! My Rottie is still a puppy!

YOU need to secure it tight. Another words it will secure to a wood frame, but if you dont tighten the 4 holding screws.

I would not recommend for a large dog. He will push it out of the way. Get one that screws into the wall.

The gate is mounted on either side by screwing cups into either wall and then extending the 'feet' into the cups. The locking mechanism is pretty secure. Having said that, that's a powerful dog and may be able to force it. You should probably use sheet rock anchors, just in case.

Yes, you can because this gate has screw in cups as well as suction cups to hold it to the door frame.

This is not the gate for you. I seriously doubt the tension of this gate will hold your dog back.

Have 1 secured in drywall doorway, other in woodwork doorway. My dog's much smaller than yours, so I went over & pushed hard myself & tried to move gate -- it didn't move & I weigh A LOT more than your pup! Honesty Alert: had to snug up one of the corners after my 1st push but no movement after that. Hope this helps.

It's pressure mounted, and is secured to a wood frame by pressure. It comes with wall cups to make it more secure. I would think using the wall cups and a tight pressure, might be much better than other pressure gates you might have used.

There are other brand of baby gates, there is one by evenflo that is made for the top of the stairs. I would assume any type of gate that is made for the top of the stairs would be the best in holding back the weight of the dog.

The only problem I forsee is that the tighter the pressure, the more the door comes together, that's how it's made, it's not a defect. However, you might need tremendous pressure for a Rottie. And it would make it so you would not be able to open the door to walk through.

Also, there is no way a rottie would fit through the small pet door. My dog is 25lbs and he fits through perfectly. It is a bit of snug fit, but it works for small to medium size dogs.
