This pad comes with a thin sponge-like cloth. You wet it (and squeeze all excess water out) then insert into cover. It almost feels like you are putting a hot wet wash cloth on your area of pain. The instructions for using the moist heat feature are included in the box.

My husband uses the heating pad. It shuts itself off after 20 minutes and after cooling down, not sure of how long will turn itself back on if it's set on low, med or high.

It's auto shut off cannot be changed to always on. The indicator lights turn off when it shuts off though, so it's easy to turn it back on before it gets cold.

This one has a 1-hour auto shutoff. You can find some that stay on on Amazon or maybe Walmart too. On amazon they go for around $13 for a real small size or $20 for a 12x15"

You cannot set it to any other time length except for the default 1 hour.

They were very reliable BTW, and work perfectly.

The piece of fabric is used when moist heat is preferred. Remove the fabric and moistened until damp with water squeezing out excess. (not soaking wet or drippy) and replace in cover with and against heating pad, close cover. Lay on affected area with moistened pad side on skin. Dampen pad as needed when it becomes dry.

Yes, you wet that piece of fabric (not too wet, ring it out so it is not dripping water) and put back inside cover. When the heat starts to dry it out, re-wet it again.

The pad has a thin, soft flannel sheet inside, on top of the coils that is removable so you can rinse it in water, wring and put back in to effect the moist heat. I use moist for my face. A backache, I sometimes use moist and sometimes dry.

Doesnt come with 2 pads. Only one cover. If you were to mist the cover with water then it would be moist heat. When to do so is a question for your doctor.

answer 4
Moist heat is for a little more penetration of the heat. Sometimes, an injury or ache is very deep, and the moisture helps the heat go "deeper". Also, it is not as drying to the skin as dry heat. I use it both ways.

answer 5
It's really just a preference for the most part. Some people find dry heat uncomfortable or dehydrating when used often on an injury, yet also a more intense heat with faster relief when needed. Moist heat tends to penetrate the heat deeper into the underlying tissue and some say it's more soothing. Best thing to do it try it one way and if not happy give the other way a shot. For me it depends on the ache or pain and the level of heat I desire at the moment.

it has 3 settings...low, med & high. I'm an animal lover and would think by using the settings and having blankets between the pad and the cats it should work well. Do you know they sell online or in pet catalogs a sheet that reflects the body heat of the animal as the animal lays on it? There is no electricity involved and you may feel better leaving them alone for long period of time. It definitely safe and I've used them with my elderly dogs and cats in the past. I hope this helps.

PLease be aware this gets VERY hot, but there are different settings, so I think if you kept it "always on" at a setting around 2-3, it would be ideal for your kitties.

It is more than likely defective or just died like my last three have within a year of purchase. I didn't go through the hassle of sending my last two back for a refund through the mail, but the one I just bought about six months ago started going right to a blinking red light and no heat just like the other two and now I can't find the receipt and I really want a replacement or refund this time because I'm sick of this problem. I think I'm done with this brand. They don't last very long.
