Yes, this takes the speaker level outputs from your head unit and converts them to low level inputs for an amp.

It's a line converter. Yes mainly to use for amps. It is for stereos (factory and older aftermarket) which only have wires coming out for speakers and no RCA outputs.

No. You will need to splice into the factory amp's remote wire....or, if there is no factory amp, you will need to splice into the ignition wire (NOT the large positive wire, the smaller "ignition" wire) for the deck to serve as the remote lead.
