No, according to the back of the box you have to connect the unit to a land line. It also says you can connect it to DSL. But you have to buy a filter. Then you can program it to call your cell phone.

It's pretty sensitive. If the magnetic strips on the window/door sensor are more than 1/4" apart the alarm will sound. The motion detector is also pretty sensitive.

its pretty sensitive. When alarm is not armed you can see the light on the motion sensor turning off and on.The door/window sensor triggers when sensors are spread apart which means someone opened a window/door

answer 5
Not sure about the door sensor but the motion detector is pretty sensitive. I have it sitting on my counter in the kitchen right now facing a wine bottle that has feathers on it. (dont ask why the wine bottle has feathers on it...lol) If the feathers move the motion detector senses it from about 8 inches away.

answer 6
The Door Sensors will trigger if the magnet is one inch away from the switch. As for the motion sensor, it depends on if you put on the cover over the lens. It's a great system for the money.

It is made to be used by a/c. It does have a battery backup (9v) method in case the power goes out. I don't know how long the battery would last if you just wanted to use it in battery mode, it can be done though.

Yes, if the sensor is positioned to "see" low to the floor. I have an indoor dog and tested my unit with him running around the house. I have two motion sensors, one for the first and second floors. I have them positioned to see the middle of doors and windows. So far so good.

answer 5
I am not sure you would want to use this system for that purpose. The alarm is LOUD and would go off at the slight of movements. Now if you want to use it as a panic feature, that could be possible, but the elderly person would have to carry the remote to hit the panic if needed, then it would call you to turn off the system.
