Customer Questions & Answers for
Yard Machines Yard Machines 22" 179cc Two-Stage Gas Snow Blower

The Yard Machines 22" 179cc Two Stage Gas Snow Blower is equipped with a 179cc 4-cycle engine meant to clear light to moderate snowfall on smaller driveways, sidewalks, and patios. The Yard Machines snow blower features snow hog tires for smoother traction and enhanced gripping. The ergonomically designed, easy-to-hold handle makes this Yard Machines 22" 179cc Two Stage Gas Snow Blower easy to operate.

Yes, but the Reverse is very, very slow. Most of the time it's easier to just turn the machine & go back the other way or I find even with my 208 cc that it's very easy to just pull it backwards. By pushing downwards on the handles it lifts the front & you're pulling the machine backwards on the rear wheels, so it's not hard at all. I hope that helps.

answer 2
The auger that touches the snow first and breaks it up is metal. The 2nd auger also called the impeller, that helps to throw the snow further is plastic.

Do you have to mix oil with gas?

NO, these are 2 stage, not 2 cycle. Oil goes in the motor like a car & you just need to change the oil per the manual. Just use regular unleaded gas & go!

answer 2
No, you should not mix the oil in with the gas for the 4 cycle engine in this snow thrower. You would only mix the oil in with the gas for a 2 cycle engine. You will want to make sure that there is always the proper amount of oil in the crankcase by checking before each use by looking at the dipstick attached to the oil fill cap.

Contact www.mtd.com & see if it's available for your model number. My 208 cc has it, but I don't need it as it starts on the 1st. or 2nd. pull everytime.

answer 2
If it's a 2 cycle snow thrower, that would be an older machine as the model you are asking about using regular gasoline that you put in your car. No oil mixing is necessary. You might be confusing this with the term 2 Stage. There is oil in the engine housing itself. That needs to be changed after about 10 hours of use. Then probably once a year. Check your manual or go to www.mtd.com.
MTD will tell you what oil to use in the crank case. (The motor itself.)

If you are using an older 2 cycle engine, then you would mix regular 2 cycle oil with the gas. It will state on the oil bottle that it can be used in pretty much any 2 cycle engine. Example is my boat motor is 2 cycle & I do spend a little bit more for Marine 2 cycle oil in it.
