Yes this toy provides plenty of support for the wobbly ones. My son is also working on sitting up on his own. He is still pretty wobbly when sitting on his onw however, this activity center provides perfect support for him and he is able to enjoy himself.

To use the activity center the child must be at least four months of age, sit up by him or herself, be less than 30’’ tall, and weigh less than 25 lbs. There is no specified minimum height for the entertainer.

I don't think it stores flat. You could disassemble it and store it that way though.
It seems more of a permanent object to me.

Does this have wheels?
I dont want something my baby can go anywhere with;I`m looking for an activity center that is sedentary. But wheels for me to move it from one room to the next would be helpful.

No wheels, but it's light enough to easily move from room to room. The bottom actually has two "settings." It kind of rocks back and forth with baby's movement or you can put down the locking "leg" attachments for a stationary toy.
