I could not find the salt at WM so I went to Lowes and purchased the salt pellets 99.8% pure. It disolved quite fast and is doing the job just fine.

We found Pool Salt at our local home improvement store since our local Wal-Mart was sold out. They now have it again, but try your local Wal-Mart and if no luck, then the local home improvement store.

NO!!!! And mine broke as soon as I tried to put it together!! But you can order a platform from the Intex store on line. I ordered one, haven't got it yet. I'll let you know how sturdy it is afterwards, as for now you gotta try not to shake to much when your climbing it!!

It has a very small platform that I always step around. It's a little wobbly. It's not great but it does the job (for now).

People, keep in mind one of the reasons these pools can be offered so inexpensively, is because the filters are not very sophisticated . Do yourself a favor and buy the salination pump offered by Walmart/Intek and replace the one that came with your pool. They are great and will filter the water in these sizes of pools wonderfully. Best of all no chemicals!!

The B filter is to small in my opinion. We live in a rural area and are cleaning our filter twice a week. In fact, I came on here looking for an answer about the addition of a sand filter, to help with problems.

NOTE, I emailed the Intex office three days ago about using it with this filter, pump system and still no reply from them.

No, none of the Intex pools are as easy as they state on the box. The reason is because you need to have PERFECTLY level ground to put the pool on. But after you have perfectly level ground, the setup of the pools is pretty close to what they claim on the box, as long as you are fairly experienced in putting things together.

Our 16'X42" pool (3,800 Gal) was only $12 extra. But I had to contact my municipal and let them know I was filling a pool. They deducted the 3,800 Gal from the sewage portion of my bill. If I had not called them, the bill would have been an additional $16 on top of the $12 for the water.

Ours was around $15 more than it usually is. Don't know where you are but some fire departments will come fill it up for you with their hoses. Our town just quit doing that. If you use your own water though $15 is not too much to complain about

Question

I see that this pool is 48" deep. The true water depth is important to me. Does 48" mean that you get 48" of water or is the fill line below 48"?

Your water level is about 4 inches from the top of the frame, but still feels and swims like a 48" pool.

answer 2
The fill line is below 48". I have a 48" pool, and the 48" is talking about the height of the pool as set up, not the water height inside. After you fill it to 90% capacity (recommended height) you will probably get about waist-to chest-high water (if you're 5' or above tall). If you want a deeper pool, then get one that has a 52" depth.

Question

Do you have to add the salt right away?

I have a very impatient 5-year-old who wants to swim in it right away. Since you can't run the pump when in use and it has to run 24 hours before even turning on the saltwater pump, is it okay to delay adding the salt by a day. It is Saturday night and we're still filling it with water, but I had told her we would swim tomorrow not realizing exactly how it all worked. Thanks for any advice.

You can if you want...but be prepared for VERY COLD water unless you heated it first. My advice is to set it up before anyone gets in it. This will ensure that the pump is working properly and that the salt is dissolved thouroughly so that the chlorinator will do its job at start up. This process will take at least 24 hours...and plan on 48 hours if you have not added the correct amount of salt. Also, last note. if you can buy NON-pelletized salt the process of disolving the the salt will be much faster and easier on you.

Good luck!

My girls swam while the pool was filling! We finished filling it this morning, I added salt, and they are in it again. I figure the pump will run most of the time, but when I get ready to turn on the saltwater system after 24 hours, then they will have to get out for those five hours. If I set it to begin around 10:00 at night, then it should run about that same time every night. Good Luck!

Can you use sand to level the ground before placing the pool? It specically states on the box, not to use sand! Why? Why not?

They require that you not use sand because the poles will sink in sand. You could possibly use patio blocks to put the poles on, but I haven't seen anywhere that anyone has done this. If I buy it, I will probably use the blocks.

The pool comes with a liner (looks like a tarp) to place on the ground. I would assume that sand is soft and could cause some shifting of the support legs. We put the support legs up on patio pavers and used a small amount of sand, just enough to cover the ground area to help cushion any roots or pebbles we may have missed while preparing the area. We then laid the liner over the sand.

There is a little mesh bag you put on one end and the garden hose on the other and it works somewhat, but i plan on getting a longer hose to run of the filter to use.

I beleive the vacuum connects to a garden hose only. At a former house we had an inground pool and we needed to hook the vacuum into the skimmer but the directions don't state that for this pool.
