yes you can make it work. It wont be exactly like an adult bike in the standard position. The span between the cradle arms is 15". They have tie-downs so if you put the bike lopsided it can be secured.

It will support a 20" boys or girls bike frames with an adaptor bar (click on this link to view bar & price: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Allen-Bicycle-Adaptor-Bar/10812004). The bar can also be used to mount a womens adult bike that does not have a straight top tube.

Yes, if properly fastened to the car. You need additional straps not supplied to tie them down so they don't sway back and forth. An assortment of bundgies work good.

I have driven nearly 80 with no concerns. Just make sure the lock bolt is tight. Take some tools to check it periodically.

When installed properly, the rack will be safe at 65 mph. I live in Florida and recently traveled on I75 at 70 mph with no problems. It is recommended that an additional strap be used to prevent the bike(s) from swaying (mentioned on instructions).

It feels fine, I do not drive slow and most of the time the trails are far from my house, I think it is a sturdy rack, it is just not user friendly for getting it on and off and for getting it to fold back so that I can get into my hatch.

you need 5" of clearance from the end of receiver and straight up. Inside 5 inches you will be cutting it close to the tire. I can't see the receiver in the picture but if it is tucked in underneath it might not work unless you have and extension.

answer 2
I suggest you purchase a "Spare-tire" mounted rack. If you do want a hitch-mounted rack the vertical post of the rack extends 6 inches past the receiver (i.e. it depends entirely upon the location of the receiver).

answer 3
You may need a hitch extension. Depends on how far the tire sticks out. From the end of the hitch tube to the inside of the vertical tube, it' 7 1/2 inches.

I have a Toyota Rav 4 2003 and I use the rack on it. I had to get an extension which I found at Harbor Freight about $16. The rack works great

answer 5
Probably not without an extension. I use it on an Isuzu Trooper - with an externally mounted spare tire.

To use the rack as it came out of the box - I had to remove the spare and toss it in the back of the Trooper.

I purchased an extension/adapter from Harbor Freight (http://tiny.cc/hitchadapter) which works great.

I doubt that it will work with your Rav4. I bought this rack to use with my Ford Ranger, and was hoping it might work with my Jeep Liberty with the rear spare tire. It doesn't even come close to reaching the receiver on the liberty.

I put this on the back of a Chevy Avalanche. The GMC Sierra is basically the same vehicle.

The biggest concern would be the size of your trailer hitch. If the Sierra is like my Avalanche, your hitch should be 2". Just use the shims and the proper lock bolt.

I normally carry only 1 bike on a Chevy HHR. My trick is to bungee-chord the wheels and pedals from movement. The bike would have to come unattached to scratch the car (hasn't happened yet). The rack extends rearward from the receiver approximately 6 inches.
answered 1 year, 7 months ago
By
padreloco
 - San Diego, CA
answer 2
Yes if you have a hitch receiver. O your car it would be 1 1/4. the only thing that will scratch the car is pedals. You can remove the one nearest the car during transport.
answered 1 year, 10 months ago
By
Bigfoot48065
answer 3
If there is a supported sized hitch (1-1/4 or 2") you should be fine.

There is about 4" between the rack and the tailgate on my truck. The handlebars of my bike do not hit the tailgate.

answer 4
If you have a 1 1/4" receiver it will fit and the bikes won't touch the car. I run a bungee cord from the front to back tire on the bike closest to the car which keeps the front wheel straight.
answered 2 years, 8 months ago
By

Yes it will mount, and if you do not secure the bikes with an extra cord, they can scratch the car, however if properly tied down, this is an excellent choice.

Should not be a problem at all. Except for the hitch, nothing touches your car and bike does not move enough to swing back to hit your car.
