Yes, it has an internal-only battery so without an AC adapter it wouldn't work.

The battery is sealed, so only as long as the battery holds out. Spare batteries are NOT an option. Maybe 30-45 minutes.
On AC power, it will record until your Memory stick is full and that depends on the available memory, and what mode (1080, 720, VGA) you're recording in.

You won't get 2 hours out of it, if you read the fine print in the manual it's more like 40 minutes of "typical use" time. Also, the battery is an internal one so when you wear out the pitiful little thing that's in there you're camera is done i.e. there's no way for you to change it out.
