For over the air no you do not need a converter box. Where I live for basic cable you don't need cable box and will get some HD channels. For digital cable because the TV doesn't have a cable card slot you will need a cable box (not sure if any TVs have cable card slots anymore). I'm pretty sure new laws are any new TV with a turner in it has to pick up digital channels (meaning you don't need a converter box).

Question

Picture-in Picture

Does this TV have true picture in picture (PIP)? I want to watch channel A on the main screen and watch channel B on a smaller PIP. Is this how this works?

Not exactly. It has a feature where you can view your PC input as the main screen and view TV (from the ant/cable input only) as the small PIP "window". You can find the manual at sony.com and see the full explanation. As best as I can determine you may not swap the images, nor can you use any other inputs. I will try this set anyway as it says it will do exactly what I want. It is a shame that PIP has gone away - I had it as you describe in all my previous big screens! I have found it on only one set, a 20" Visio that is since discountinued. None of the current sets I've found have the PIP as you desire. Good luck.

I have 3 Sony TV's and you don't need a PIP TV. The PIP comes from your cable or sattellite provider or DVR unit. PIP requires 2 signal sources that go to one input, if you have that then you could have PIP on an old 12 inch TV

compare a snes to the xbox graphic wise and thats the difference between using your Xbox 360 on this HD t.v to a standard t.v..also when you use a hdmi cable the tv goes up to 1080p the colors are vivid and if you play a game like Fight Night you will feel like your watching a real life boxing fight

The BRAVIA Wireless Link Module supports up to 5 HD sources (4 HDMI, 1 component video) at up to 1080i (that's an I not a P) up to 65 feet away. It isn't for a cable/antena hookup on the coax input. It's $500 on Sony's site and is full of bad reviews on there.

No. This LCD is not bluetooth/wireless compatible. You may be able to run speakers wirelessly with a tuner that supports bluetooth, but you'll need to plug the CATV into the back of your LCD to receive a picture.

Obviously at a 60 hz refresh rate the response time is slower than a 120 hz...this model is 8ms...on hd channels and with your hd converter set to 720p this tv does very well and has minimal blur on fast moving films due to the 24 fps capability
