On pavement max speed is 10 mph. Speed drops to about 7 mph if on grass.

No it would be fine for an 8 year old. my 14 year old rides my son's. I think the weight limit for it is 120lbs.

It really depends on the size of your child but I would think an average size 8 year old would be too big.

There's no way to control speed. For a child it does go pretty fast. They must get use to using the brake, so it stoppeds immediately when needed. It took my boys awhile to get use to the brake, to stop from ramming into things.

Rubber tires--they are so much better than those plastic things, and it makes it sooo much quieter.

I beklieve that the battery is built in to the vehicle, you plug it in like a cigarette lighter.

It is battery powered, but it is powered by electric. It goes about 8mph, and it is the size of a regular volt battery operated 4-wheeler. They say ages 8+, but my son got it when he was 4 and does awesome on it.

Assembly is not hard, it comes very easily to assemble, you just put on the tires and handlebars on. when you check out it will ask you if you want the extended warranty and how much it is.
