Question

correct Pix

This is my first flat screen TV and am having difficulty with everyone looking short and fat. I changed the pix size but the only one that looks normal is the one that's just a square box in the middle of the screen. Any suggestions, please.

Trust me on this - use "pic 6" on every channel.

Every so often you might see something odd on the extreme edges of the picture. That's being sent by the station, not being created by the TV. Though not described in Sanyo's pitiful manual, "pic 6" means there's no overscan.

To clarify the answer, are the speakers on the front panel and fire out to the front? I have seen too many models with speakers that fire out the bottom edge or some other dumb spot. I need a unit that will blast sound towards the front!

Question

Will this tv work ok with my cable (see details inside)?

I have plain basic cable that connects directly to the tv. I guess it's analog? I get like 70-something channels. Will I need to get anything special to connect it or can I just screw the cable into it like my old CRT tv? Do I need to get an HDTV box or anything from the cable company? I don't really care if the channels are actually in HD - just that I get all the channels the same way I do currently.

You can connect directly to a cable or an antenna. The antenna will give you HDTV results if you have good enough signal. If you want HD from your cable you will need a HD cable box receiver.

Sanyo tvs last a very long time from my own personal experience. I have a Sanyo 19" CRT that's a good 10 years old and still works great, despite being dragged all over the country AND I keep it on pretty much 24/7 to keep my cat company while I'm at work. My grandparents have a similar 19" Sanyo that's going on 20 years old and still works perfectly.

In general both plasma and LCD TV's will go about 30-60K hours. That would be about 15 years maybe?
Most CRT Televisions were good for maybe 25,000 hours, somewhat less then the newer technology
