we have 800 or 900 balls in it right now, and it could probably take 400 more before it starts overflowing.

I'm not sure, because we haven't bought additional balls, but there is a door opening in the castle, so while it would probably hold at least 100 balls-and probably more--once the kids get in and start wallowing around, you'll probably have balls coming out through the door opening.

pretty sure it has a weight limit of 120lbs, but that is for bouncing. Our 1 year old could play with four others around his age comfortably.

Depending on the age, I would say two. If they are rowdy then two or less at a time. We had 2-3 kids at a time and the oldest was 5.
