Does anyone use this with both sides filled with sand? Couldn't you do this?

Both sides of ours was filled with sand until I swept the water side out the other day. The only problem was that my daughter figured out how to pull the water plug, so there was a pile of sand underneath the table when she was done playing. I like it's a matter of preference and how much cleaning up you are willing to do with it.

There are nipples that go over the leg tops and shove into (4) holes at the bottom of the table. It's possible that the nipples might work as a plug without the legs. Not sure. I'd visit the manufacturer's website and ask them. The table is a little short for 4-6 year olds - and at times they kneel instead of stand, but it could be set on blocks to make the table higher.

That depends on how much sand and water you have in it. I have 50 pounds of sand in mine and it very hard to move. If you just had a little bit of sand then I don't think it would be that hard to move. I think you'd need 2 people to move it anyways.

Question
Has any one had problems with a cat in this type of sand box?
I bought the naturally playful sandbox becuase of the heavy lid to keep my cat out. However, after just a few days of use my husband accidently left the lid off and our cat did her business in there. We tossed the whole thing, such a waste. I don't want to give up the whole sand play because it very educational and fun. I am hoping my cat wont go in here because it's off the ground and has water, ect. but I don't know if that will work! Anybody have any idea if this is effective against cats?. Has anybody had a problem with this sandbox and cats? I am desperately looking for a solution.
