Oster Oster Blender with Food Processor

The Oster Blender with Food Processor is a multi-purpose kitchen device. Combining two small appliances in one, you get a powerful, space-saving solution. Powered by 450 watts, the Oster 12 speed blender gives you the power to blend or grind at fast speeds. From sauces and smoothies to soups to drinks, you can prepare a wide range of stuff with this versatile processor. You can blend a large amount of fruits and veggies in this large-capacity 6-cup glass jar. This jar is made from Boroclass Glass, which is thermal shock tested. So, you can take it from a steamy dishwasher and make a cold beverage immediately without fear that the glass will crack. This BPA-free food processor comes with a 3-cup bowl perfect for chopping, mixing and mincing onions, garlic, vegetables, nuts and more. The metal drive system used in the blender ensures better performance and longer life when compared to a plastic system.

answer 2
It did well with some cubes of chicken and other lighter ingredients. Makes a good paste. Can't tell what it is, it is so fine.

I used the food processor for this. I found the blender may have a little too much drag of the blades for this task.

Should the jar lock into place on the base or does it sit there and you can lift it up?

It just sits there, i.e., it is not screwed into place.

answer 2
The jar is not meant to lock onto the base. It should sit securely enough that you do not need to hold the jar down while blending. The two tabs at the bottom of the jar should be touching the tabs on the base.

The blendar locks into place. The handle should be in your right hand. Place the blender on the base and turn to the left. Make sure the bottom of the blender stays tight as you lock the blender into the base. I had to play with the blender to figure out how to do this.

Question

Does the "food processor" part of this have the shredding, chopping disk

I am thinking about purchasing this item and as I look at the picture provided I cannot see the usual hardware that comes with a food processor. Does this have all of the amenities that a standard food processor has or is it really just two blenders for the price of one?

It does not come with the disks for shredding and slicing. You only get the standard processor blade with the food processor cup. They do sell the food processor attachment separately that comes with all the blades, but as far as I can tell, you can't by the disks separately for this unit.

I just called the manufacturer today. The intentionally missing parts are the food pusher, feed tube cover, slicing/shredding disc and blade shaft. They will send them to you for $15.92.

I thought it did, however, looking at the enclosed booklet it is the next model up that has the slicer blade, food pusher, and different cover. I just need to find out where to get that model or how to upgrade this one.

There is no slicer blade. This attachment is a processor not a slicer dicer. Think bread crumbs, salsa etc.

There is a food-processor add-on that allows you to do this. This would not be able to be done in the actual blender

Regarding the BLSTCC-BFP Oster® 12 Speed Blender with Food Processor, yes you can dry grind peanuts, almonds or cashews to powder form, and do so without water. For best results recommend using the “Pulse” function on the blender. This will give you added control to process until the foods reach the desired consistency.

That is because a blender isn't rated in horsepower like a car. It's rated in wattage. Usually, the higher the watts, the more power.

Question

Does this product have reset button underneath the base, in case it stops functioning due to over heating?

I usually use blenders for continuous half hour to make rice batter. It takes that long since you have to give 5 minute breaks in between in order to not over heat the blender.

This blender does not have an internal thermal fuse (reset button). It is of poor quality, and I wouldn't recommend using it for the purpose you describe. I don't recommend it at all, in fact.
