At barbie collector Fan club, we had a special thread and we all kept each other informed when they went up for sale. Didn't matter though, because by the time someone got around to telling everyone it was already sold out. You had to live at your computer clicking refresh for the 24 hour period they were on sale. They went up 12 or so times within the 24 hours and have not been up since. I'm thinking they are sold out. No one really knows for sure.

I was able to purchase two dolls at difference times. One at 3:30 p.m. and the other at 6:30 p.m. It was very difficult to buy and I had to keep on refreshing the computer for hours. Best wishes.

I saw the doll available for purchase Monday afternoon, 9/28, at approximately 1:50 p.m. Eastern, and I got one into my shopping cart. But after I signed in to complete the order, the site told me I could not proceed because the item had become unavailable. Frustrating!

I called walmart HQ and the manager told me that as long as it's posted on walmart.com, they are either working with mattel to get more, or they have more in stock, just not posted.

They went up for sale between 9/28-9/30, not exactly sure. I do know that when they did go up they went up in batches for a couple of minutes each time, about 13 times all together that I counted, within a 24-30 hour period of time. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing they are either sold out or if they do have any left it is very few. Another thing that helped them sell out of stock rather quickly was the fact there was no limit on how many you could buy on these. I know a few people that couldn't get past checkout with 2-3, but that was probably due to the fact that was all they could allow you to buy because they were already sold out of their allotment. There have also been people that I've talked to on boards that bought 5 or more at a time. Considering one person had 7 listed on Ebay for sale and said that was only a small portion of the ones they had got, then I'm guessing these are sold out.

These went up the first time at around 1:00 pm then they went up again early the next morning at 4am, then at 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, 4-6 more times throughout that day, and then once or twice early in the morning. So, all together they went up around 12 or more times all within a 24 hour period. Each time they were only up for a few minutes 2-3, except at 4am (2nd time they went up) at that time they were up for about 9-10 mins. Even if they were selling them in batches of 50-10 (which no one knows for sure, but that is what it seems) then they shouldn't still have 500 left. Maybe 200, but I am guessing these are sold out. Several people's were on backorder and they have filled their orders as far as I know, so you would also think if they were going to list anymore then they already would have.

No. They have not released all of these but they are getting more stock in. From what I have heard they only list like 100-200 at a time. They still have about 500 left. The only bad thing is being one of the first on the website before they are out of stock again. They should list them after maintenance comes up at 4:30-5 AM and also at 1 PM. I am thinking it will be up on Monday morning but it's a guess. I had the same experience with ethel but she was only going for $100-150 when she was very first released on EBay.

Question
Did anyone buy more than 1 of these?
Just curious if their system allowed anyone to purchase more than 1 doll. I think they should have limited any multiple purchases so more people would have had the chance to buy this doll!

I agree! I too have the entire Lucy collection and paid way too much for Ethel on Ebay. I have been watching for Fred for several months. Once I saw it was coming out on Walmart, I continued to check for it - I was able to select the "add to cart" button, however, nothing ever added...then after a few minutes, that button disappeared and "out of stock" was there again. :( I'm losing too much sleep over this doll - but I don't want to pay $500 plus!!!

I have all them also.Santa Ethel I had to by on e-bay and paid a lot for it. To bad this one seem to be going to be that way also. I sat up all night on 9/30/.09 hopeing to buy it but it never was. Said out of stock. And I had to work the next day. They should have made it fair for all of us some people were able to buy more the 1 doll now they are already charging from 300.00 up to 800.00 on e-bay for a doll less that 50.00

we've been collecting these things since day 1, have all but ethel and fred and now it seems impossible to buy them unless you want to buy on the secondary market, it's so unfair that being on the west coast they went on sale at 2am our time and then people buy more than 1 to make money or save, true collectors have no chance at this unless they don't work and can sit by a computer all day waiting for them to come online, i'm truly disapointed now that i will probobly not be able to complete a collection we've faithfully kept up with, i actually had one of these in my cart last week and then went to check out and it was gone, i'm sick of this, to much competition for a plastic doll, don't suppose anyone would want to help a gal out!
