Mine works fine. You have too point it to it's sensor, which is on the right side of the speaker, where the lights are that light up when you change anything.

While I have not had this problem have read somewhere that others have had it and the removed the cover and broke a couple of little pieces off around where the sensor is, also remember seeing a video on you tube about it looked easy to do.

For some reason the plastic about the receiver is not cut out well. I took the cover off the speaker and trimmed the plastic under the speaker cloth a little. This helped some and made the remote usable.

I eventually went to a universal remote and that helped more.

I planned on going to a universal anyway so that was not a big deal but you would think they would have test the design before building the darn things!

If remote doesn't work at all, check polarity of battery. Maybe need a new battery. If it only works sometimes, this is because of limited range from the device itself.

No, as long as you do not put the sound bar ontop of your CRT tv but at the base, as intended. It will NOT affect a lcd, led, or plasma tv at all. It is a class b FCC certified unit so it may cause interference but only on nearby antennaes (rabbit ears).

answer 4
For a magnet to interfere with the image on a TV, it has to be a very strong magnet and/or be very close to the TV. The problem is not as severe with a TV that is LCD as it was with a CRT/tube-type TV. Those older TVs have a cathode in the rear that sends a beam of electrons toward the front of the TV - the inside of the picture tube. A magnetic field will cause a deflection of the electron beams. On a color TV, that makes for an interesting pattern. However, getting a magnet too close to the TV for too long will cause that pattern to remain on the screen because the screen is magnetized (in simple terms). It can be degaussed by a repair shop, though.

When I had an older tube-type TV with a small poor-sounding speaker, I installed a larger, better speaker inside the cabinet. I also installed some sheet metal around it to block the magnet's effect on the tube.

If the sound bar remains six inches away from the TV, it should cause no interference with the image.

you should not put this particular sound bar right on your tv.this model does not have the magnetic shielding that some other sound bars offer.walmart has another model available for like 99.00 dollars that i was looking at.which does have that feature.but with the vizio.you would want to keep it at least six to egiht inches from your tv.

The best would be the OUTPUT from your TV. That would be the best because then whatever you watch on TV would be enhanced by the soundbar. If you hook up the soundbar to your DVD or cable, then the soundbar would only work when watching which it is hooked up to (not both).

answer 5
If your TV has an audio output and more than one input you can connect the cable box and the dvd player to the tv, then connect the tv to the soundbar. This way you'll have a free input to connect something like an mp3 player. If you only have one input on your tv, I'd suggest connecting the cable box to it and connecting the dvd player directly to the soundbar. This way you can play cd's without turning the tv on.

no, u don't need a seperate amp/receiver. the soundar has a built-in amplifier. you can hook to ur tv if it has a R/L audio output, or u can also connect it if your tv has a toslink style digital output. (most LCD and Plasma TV's have them.)

You don't need a receiver to hook this to your tv. It has 2 RCA plugs and an optical input. But I think you have to set your tv or dvd player to PCM if you want to listen through the optical output.

Yes it does. When operating the soundbar remote - it's important to know that you need to press the "power" button on the soundbar remote TWICE in order for the soundbar to work.

We turn off our television with our Direct TV remote. We leave the soundbar "on" after we turn off the TV.

When we turn the TV on with our Direct TV remote, we then have to press the "power" button on the soundbar remote ONE TIME.

The key is to look at the lights on the right side of the sound bar. When there are 7 or so white lights lit up on the sound bar - I think that means the sound bar is TURNED ON. When you press the power on the soundbar remote ANOTHER TIME - the 7 or so white lights should be replaced with 3 or so white lights and maybe 2 blue lights - that indicates that the sound is working on the soundbar.

Hope this helps.

I have the 47" razor vizio on a tv stand that has the top to it where you can put stuff up there for looks but I have a decent gap from the stand to my tv so I'm thinking of mounting it to the stand so it just hangs above. Thats what I'm doing with mine. I just bought my vizio sound bar and I'm impressed with it.

Question

I bought a Visio Sound Bar with a wireless subwolfer today. I came home and hooked it up like it said and there is no sound on the soundbar.

I have dish network and was wondering if that is the reason. I hooked it up to the red and white audio in the back of my TV. The power light was on and the subwolfer was linked to it but still no sound. when I unplugged it from the back of the TV the red and white controls touched and there was sound coming out of the soundbar. I gave up and turned everything off.

I experienced the same thing. After giving up, I pressed the power ON button on the sound bar remote and the sound bar worked. The sound bar remote requires that the power ON button be pressed twice in order for the sound bar to work. When looking at the lights to the right on the sound bar - when pressing the remote power ON button once - there will be a row of approx. 6 or 7 white lights. Press the sound bar remote power ON a second time and you will see approx. 3 white lights and maybe 2 blue lights (the blue lights indicate that the TVOL & TSHD are on - no blue lights and the tvol & tshd are off). Hope this helps in time.

I think you have to use your TV's remote, hit menu, go to "sound', and set the speakers to "external" (or similar language that your TV uses). You have to tell the TV to send the sound to the right place.

It took me a couple trial runs to get everything to work together. Mainly, I had to understand how to "see" which input the soundbar was recognizing. If you are in input, then the light on the soundbar will blink for whatever input you are on.

That is when things straightened out for me.

you DON'T HOOK THIS TO AUDIO IN... audio IN is just that audio IN, NOT OUT, so no signal will be coming OUT of the tv and into your sound bar. You will need to use your tv's audio OUT connection if you have it, or the audio out from your Dish network box which is the red and white OUT on the back of the box.
