if your pc, has rca out or optical, spdif out, then yes... hook it and your tv up to the bar directly. since it probably does not, stream the video from pc to tv via ethernet, vga, bd player, or game console instead.

If you connect the speaker to your TV using an optical audio cable, whatever devices sending sound to your TV will come out of the speaker. I have streaming Netflix through my Wii, DirecTV and a DVD player and all come out of the speaker.

TSHD is TruSurroundHD and that is the setting I use, but try each one to see which you like best. TVOL means TruVolume. I didn't like it as well as TSHD. I don't see any reason to use both at the same time.

Yes, both settings can be on at the same time. TVOL seems to add only more volume and the TSHD seems to add a surround type sound. I have them both on. Just try either, both or none of the settings to see which one you like.

answer 6
These two functions do two different things. the TVOL (TruVolume) will give you a balanced even sound when switching between commercial and program as many commercials have a higher volume. the TSHD (TruSurround HD) will give you a more high definition surround sound feel with the sound bar. So you can have both on at the same time to perform their functions simultaneously.

That is the old-style tube TV, right? The speaker comes with the standard red and white RCA audio cable. If you have that output on your TV it should work, but I haven't tried to connect it to anything but HDTV.

answer 3
No, as long as you do not put the sound bar ontop of your CRT tv but at the base, as intended. It will NOT affect a lcd, led, or plasma tv at all. It is a class b FCC certified unit so it may cause interference but only on nearby antennaes (rabbit ears).

answer 4
For a magnet to interfere with the image on a TV, it has to be a very strong magnet and/or be very close to the TV. The problem is not as severe with a TV that is LCD as it was with a CRT/tube-type TV. Those older TVs have a cathode in the rear that sends a beam of electrons toward the front of the TV - the inside of the picture tube. A magnetic field will cause a deflection of the electron beams. On a color TV, that makes for an interesting pattern. However, getting a magnet too close to the TV for too long will cause that pattern to remain on the screen because the screen is magnetized (in simple terms). It can be degaussed by a repair shop, though.

When I had an older tube-type TV with a small poor-sounding speaker, I installed a larger, better speaker inside the cabinet. I also installed some sheet metal around it to block the magnet's effect on the tube.

If the sound bar remains six inches away from the TV, it should cause no interference with the image.

you should not put this particular sound bar right on your tv.this model does not have the magnetic shielding that some other sound bars offer.walmart has another model available for like 99.00 dollars that i was looking at.which does have that feature.but with the vizio.you would want to keep it at least six to egiht inches from your tv.

The best would be the OUTPUT from your TV. That would be the best because then whatever you watch on TV would be enhanced by the soundbar. If you hook up the soundbar to your DVD or cable, then the soundbar would only work when watching which it is hooked up to (not both).

If your TV has an audio output and more than one input you can connect the cable box and the dvd player to the tv, then connect the tv to the soundbar. This way you'll have a free input to connect something like an mp3 player. If you only have one input on your tv, I'd suggest connecting the cable box to it and connecting the dvd player directly to the soundbar. This way you can play cd's without turning the tv on.

Question

I bought a Visio Sound Bar with a wireless subwolfer today. I came home and hooked it up like it said and there is no sound on the soundbar.

I have dish network and was wondering if that is the reason. I hooked it up to the red and white audio in the back of my TV. The power light was on and the subwolfer was linked to it but still no sound. when I unplugged it from the back of the TV the red and white controls touched and there was sound coming out of the soundbar. I gave up and turned everything off.

I experienced the same thing. After giving up, I pressed the power ON button on the sound bar remote and the sound bar worked. The sound bar remote requires that the power ON button be pressed twice in order for the sound bar to work. When looking at the lights to the right on the sound bar - when pressing the remote power ON button once - there will be a row of approx. 6 or 7 white lights. Press the sound bar remote power ON a second time and you will see approx. 3 white lights and maybe 2 blue lights (the blue lights indicate that the TVOL & TSHD are on - no blue lights and the tvol & tshd are off). Hope this helps in time.

I think you have to use your TV's remote, hit menu, go to "sound', and set the speakers to "external" (or similar language that your TV uses). You have to tell the TV to send the sound to the right place.

It took me a couple trial runs to get everything to work together. Mainly, I had to understand how to "see" which input the soundbar was recognizing. If you are in input, then the light on the soundbar will blink for whatever input you are on.

That is when things straightened out for me.

you DON'T HOOK THIS TO AUDIO IN... audio IN is just that audio IN, NOT OUT, so no signal will be coming OUT of the tv and into your sound bar. You will need to use your tv's audio OUT connection if you have it, or the audio out from your Dish network box which is the red and white OUT on the back of the box.

The sound bar should work with any HDTV. It is almost 40" long, so it comes down to looks, not function. My HDTV is about 8" shorter than the sound bar, so I just have it centered in the front. It's a little more noticeable than if it were in front of a bigger tv, but I'm glad I got it.

Any TV is fine but the size is just about perfect for a 42 inch TV since it is roughly the same width. If you use it for a smaller TV it might just not look as good in your living room.

It has two RCA inputs and an optical input so you can connect this to any TV that has RCA or optical out jacks. I have this working with a Toshiba 24 inch TV, it's 4 times as loud as the speakers on my TV so it's great for small TVs.

Hanging behind seats? Enhanced voice quality?

If you are hearing impaired, i would put it behind you if it places the soundbar closer to you. It does improve voice sound quality as the upper range is amplified. If you want a full range of sound then i recommend adding a subwoofer. I have mine under my TV on the wall in my bedroom. It MORE than enough sound for one room.

This speaker made an unbelievable difference in the sound quality of my Vizio televison (see my review). The optimal sound would be for the speaker to be in front of you (close to the tv). Should not make much difference whether you hang it on the wall or place it below the tv. If you go to concerts, movies, performances the sound is directed from in front of you, that's where it optimally sounds best.
