No you don't need a phone connection, magic jack connects into your lap top's usb port, you then have to connect a landline phone into the jack, then you can call anywhere in the US and Canada, either a landline phone or cell phone. Go to your local Walmart and buy a new cordless phone system. These systems only have the base console plugged to your phone jack (now your Magic Jack) and the other headsets only have a base to recharge the battery.

No. The wall jack is for your traditional phone line only. If you want to use MagicJack in 2 rooms you should get a cordless phone unit that comes with multiple phones. Uniden makes a great phone system with 4 cordless phones. The main unit would be hooked up to your MagicJack. To use the other 3 cordless phones you need to plug the phone's base (charger) in the electrical outlet in the other rooms. Those phones would the "feed" off the main phone which is plugged into the MagicJack.

No, each and every phone has to be plugged into the computer. Unless you have one of those sets of cordless phones that work where you plug the main one into the wall (for a regular)outlet for the phone or into the computer for magic jack, then for the cordless extensions all you have to do is plug in the electrical part of the extension and it works off the main phone, which sometimes can be either cordless or corded, but never the less has to be plugged into the magic jack.
