The transmitter has a switch and the headphone also has a seperate switch. I have only had my unit for 6 weeks and have not changed the origenal batteries.

does the transmitter connect to tv? This will be for my sister who is in nursing home. There are two TVs in the room. Will this transmitter be connected to the tv or does it just somehow pick up sound in airwaves? How will it know to pick up sound from correct tv?

yes it connects to your tv. it will pick up from the correct tv because you hook up the transmitter to the tv

I would like to know why I can't listen to my car DVD player, portable DVD player, and etc. w/ my wireless headphones?
So far, I've only been able to pick-up radio frequencies, even though the transmitter has been plugged in and also has batteries in it.
