the manual says to set the temp to max(450) and convection bake for 15 min before use. our family used it directly after the "seasoning" period was up and no one commented about funny taste. so i guess it works :)

The directions call for running it at 450 for 15 minutes, empty, with the door open before use. Follow those directions, and you won't have any trouble. Forget to open the door, and your first pizza will smell like those awful fumes.

In the user manual this issue is addressed. It says to run the oven for 15 min w/ door open(ajar) at 450 temp. I did this and had no problem w/ "funny" flavored food upon first use.

Just used mine for the 1st time today. Food tasted GREAT. The operating manual says to leave the door open and run it on toast at top temp (450) for 15 mins to avoid odd smells or tastes. Worked great for us! I'm happy with the purchase.

the directions say not to...but i line the broiling pan with it and no fires(knock on wood) Use common sense I guess not to block the airflow(shrug)

On our oven, the light does not go out when temperature is reached. Is this how the oven works? How are you supposed to know when to put your food in?

The light is a "Power On" light and will not tell you when the oven has reheated to the selected temperature. You can however, tell when the temperature has been reached by looking at the bottom heating element (you can see it through the glass door). When the selected temperature has been reached, the heating element will go out.

i think the light stays on. im like you, i thought the light would go off when it reaches the correct temp. i just wait about 10 min or so before i put the food in. since its a small oven i dont have to wait 20 min like my home oven. hope this helps

No, the light does not go off. The manual states that it takes 15 minutes for the oven to reach its full temperature. I set a timer for 15 minutes and then when it goes off I put my food in.

we put our food in right away, although with frozen pizza I heat the oven first making the rack heat up so the pizza does not stick. The light above the timer is for the timer telling you the OVEN IS ON. it is not for the temperature, you will hear the oven click on and off for that

Yes it has an automatic shutoff. The timer turns it on and off.
Turn the 60min. timer for your set cooking time. When the timer is done it dings once and shuts off.
It can also be set to stay on continuously.

In the toast mode, it does turn off when the toasting cycle is done. In the other modes, if you set the timer, it also automatically turns off when done. There is also a feature that can be used in the bake mode that stays on continuously, but you have to choose this one. I love mine and highly recommend it. The large size would be great for cooking frozen pizzas and small casseroles when you're busy studying.

The manfacturer recommends not cooking any chicken (or turkey) over 5 pounds in weight. I'm assuming the same is true for roasts, hams, etc.

Convection is a term that means the heat from the toaster oven is enhanced by the metal sides and bottom; the heat surrounds the food you're cooking. Using convection vs. non-convection really only makes a difference with microwave ovens that have the either/or feature.

The only bake option is convection. You can not turn off convection. Just know that convection will cook faster.
