Press and hold the "Program" button until the start time starts flashing. Adjust the start time by pressing the Hour and Min buttons. Once you get to the start brewing time, hit the Program button again. It will go back to the normal time.

When you want it to start at the time you entered in the program mode, hit the Auto button and it will light up. Your coffee will be "done" at the time you set in the program mode. IOW, it doesn't start brewing at that time, it finishes at that time (just a minor detail).

Hold down the Min button for a long time until the time starts flashing (not just the colon). Use the Min and Hr buttons to set the time... be sure to wait for AM or PM. Then just don't hit anything for about 10 seconds and it will be set.

Hold down on the hour button till it beeps then set the hour. Do the same for the mintues. To program for wake up press program and set the wake up time the same way. When done hit program again. Don't forget to fill and hit auto before going to bed and you'll wake up to fresh coffee. If you want it set for the same time everyday you only have to set it once then just fill and hit auto each night. Hope this helps. Thanks

If numbers are flashing press hour button once to move forward one hour and press minute button one time to advance time 1 minute.
If clock is already set but incorrect time: Press Hour or Minute for 3 seconds to “Wake Up” clock change and then press hour or minute buttons to advance time.

(as well as Wal-mart in-store ONLY)

I just wasted an hour of my day looking for this stupid filter. If anyone knows of a cheaper place please post it. 2 filters $6.98

This is a standard item stock at most Walmart Stores. 169218 is the part number for the Charcoal filter and this is used for 3 different GE coffee maker models.
The UPC code for the Charcoal filter is 681131692182. Your store should be able to order based on the UPC number and stock for you.

Same thing happened to me. There is no fix, so if it's still under warranty, take it back. I think what causes it is turning the machine back on after its auto shut off when you're not brewing more coffee. This is still going to be a problem with the new one though.

It is a two yr limited warranty. But you need to have saved your receipt. But they also did a recall on this maker for blk model # 169164 white # 169165 bought from March 2008-Jan. 2010. I personally have never had a issue with mine and I have the blk one with such model number. The one in stores now is a updated version.

How do I run the clean cyle on this thing?

I have the GE coffee maker model #169209 Wal-mart #001593574. The "clean" light has come on, but I cannot find my manual. How do I do the cleaning, what do I run through it, and how do I get that light to go off?

With the machine plugged in but not in brew cycle, press the clean cycle for 3 seconds and it will begin the clean cycle. If you press the power button again or clean button again while in the clean cycle it will shut off clean cycle and turn off clean button.

Please call the toll free GE Hot line at 1-877-207-0923 for help with this issue. They can tell you where to download or can ship you a manual. You can also go to: http://www.gehousewares.com/Browse_Product.aspx?content_id=350

The owners manual says to first remove the charcoal filter, then fill the tank with half water / half white vinegar (or your favorite descaling product).
Put the carafe back into it's normal brewing location on the warmer and then press and hold the auto clean button for 2 seconds until the auto clean process begins. The lamp will then blink. You can stop the process by pressing the button again and holding it for a minimum of 3 seconds. By design, this needs to be done after EVERY 60 brew cycles. The light should extinguish by itself after the completion of the auto clean cycle.
The manual suggests you replace the filter cartridge after each auto clean cycle, but says that is "optional". The filter is actually optional as well.

Fill the water tank with water and descaling solution or ½ vinegar and water.
Press the clean button and run the coffeemaker until the water tank is empty.
After cleaning, ran a coffee cycle without coffee in coffeemaker to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.

You should mix the water with vinegar 50/50 at 12 coups , click the clean button, after it is done, you run one regular coffee cycle only with clean water, or more and it should be done, replace also the filter , you should clean it without the water filter installed and the light will get off, if it stay up it mean the appliance is still not clean enough so try to make the clean process again , if your line water is to hard it will get more often dirty, in this case I recommend to use more regular vinegar and never apple or wine vinegar and always replace the water filter that not only make your coffee taste better but also protect the appliance from getting dirty and early damage.

If this doesn't work you can press: Press TSB and 1-4 button for 3 seconds. Err will appear in the display and the clean light will go out.
