You need to contact GE. I can't imagine they wouldn't be happy to sell a replacement lid, but I can't say for sure. If you have internet access, you can go to their web site and ask.

You might try to email or write GE if you really want a replacemant. It might cost as much as the crock pot. If it isn't a real new one you might try the second hand stores. I have found replacement lids to many things there. Good Luck!

It is NOT a stoneware insert. To me, "stoneware" is like ceramic or porcelain. The insert for this unit is metal, lined with a non-stick finish that scratches very easily and then begins to peel off.

There are two tabs on the metal insert on the handles that slide toward the center of the lid. This is what makes it great for travel. However, you don't lock the lid while you are cooking.

answer 2
You slide the built-in lid locks in the direction of the handles to secure the tempered glass lid. Note: Do not lock the lid while cooking.

It has a small plastic slide at either end of the lid thay sljdes ove the edge of the lid. I found this a little unweildy at first because of the thick rubber gasket but after a couple of times i got the hang of it

It feels very light like aluminum but it has a non stick coating so no scrubbing with anything coarse. To make cleaning easier you might try crock pot insert bags. Also soaking in vinegar and water helps take some of that white filmy coating that crock pots get inside them away.

This particular GE Slow cooker (Model # 169200) does not have a crockery insert but a non-stick coated aluminum one. The entire unit has to be sent back if under warranty. I would think you could contact GE parts on-line to find a replacement insert to purchase.

Question

Is there an automatic timer that will turn on and shut off according to the time set?

asked 2 years, 11 months ago
By
cindywv
on GE 6-Quart Digital Slow Cooker

answer 1
You cannot use an auxiliary timer for this unit and it doesn't have a delayed start feature. It has to have power to it in order to set cooking times and temps. The unit will cook the length of time that is programmed and has a keep warm feature that adds an extra 4 hrs to the cooking time. This means that if a recipe calls for 6 to 7 hours cooking on low, when you add the keep warm time it will be 10 to 11 hours. Another trick to gain time is to cook from frozen. Stir together the ingredients the night before and put in a zip-lock bag in the freezer. In the morning remove the ingredients from the bag and place in slow cooker. This will add an extra 1 hour to cooking time on low.
