What do you mean "if?" The super-thin, cheesy non-stick will pit and peel no matter what you do.

Yes you can, on the insert handles there is sliding buttons with 3 raised groves on them. Just slide them over the glass lid.

Yes. The lid lock is one of the best features of this pot. It does have a small vent hole in the lid but i travel with it full of chili and never had an issue. The lid also has a rubber gasket which helps keep liquid from sliding under the edge.

Yes you can lock the lid and it has a good seal. To lock just slide the plastic lock out on both sides. It only causion it not to lock it while cooking.

This pot heats very slow. Cost me a chili cookoff because the dried beans took forever to cook. If you cook chilj use canned beans :)

Not at all. I have used clow cookers for over twenty years and this one is by far the best I have owned. It cooks nice and evenly. I love the fact that after I set it to cook for a specific time, it automatically shifts to the warm setting. This way if I am out of the house, I know the food will remain warm without overcooking.

This unit is one of the largest made. It will cook plenty of ribs, more than 7 country ribs. A smart purchase for the number of people in your family:)

answer 4
We are using the pot for a family of 5 (sometimes 6) and the capacity is just fine. I can't specifically answer the questions about the ribs but I imagine you could if you cut them up to fit the pot. You can get a few pots that are bigger than 6 quarts but I would say that this size is the most versatile for most families.

Of course! I would suggest using the metal rack and place the turkey on it. This way it doesn't become too soft while cooking in the juice. It will slice easier rather than fall apart.

Make sure it will fit (and the lid is secure). You should be able to cook a small turkey but the skin won't brown or get crisp.

Yes, a small turkey can (no larger than 6.5 lbs). Great website that shows how to do this:

No. The instruction manual clearly states that you should not use the metal insert in a traditional oven or on a cook top.

answer 4
Although the insert isn't ceramic and is similar to the same material as a regular stovetop pan....it's not listed as a recommended use in the users manual. I wouldn't take the chance of ruining the insert by using it for something that it wasn't intended for.

You bet. Cheapest, thinnest non-stick I've ever encountered. Too bad because otherwise this is a well-designed item.

answer 2
The warranty is for two years. I've had mine for a little over a year and the non-stick coating is definitely coming off. It scratches very easily and once it is scratched, the lining really starts to degrade. I will use the crock-pot liners I've found (kind of like those oven bags) until I can replace it. Other than the lining, it's a good crockpot. As I understand it, you have to mail the whole thing back to them to use the warranty. Not worth the postage.

answer 3
Yes, I have had this problem too. I noticed a pea-sized "wrinkle" in the teflon coating and merely brushing it with my fingernail caused the teflon coating to peel off and expose the metal underneath. There are several other nicks in the coating both in the bottom of the pan and inside the rim of the pan below the outer edge. I know for a fact that no metal utensils have been used in this pan.
