Questions & Answers for Black & Decker Black & Decker Convection Toaster Oven, White

Question

Toasting feature

Will this oven toast bread in consecutive cycles? My current one is about 10-11 years old and won't, very annoying. If this one won't I may need to consider the larger 6-slice model...

Our EuroPro/now GE from Walmart toasts the first round of six slices in about six minutes. Because of the carryover heat, subsequent batches take 3 or 4. Just gotta watch it.

I found that removing the tray, putting the buttered bread directly on the rack, set the setting on broil at highest temp was better than using the toast feature, however you need to watch so that it doesn't burn.

I don't know about other peoples' experiences but if you like variety, this is the toaster for you. Despite my attempt at accurately positioning the knob for each set of toast, none of them came out the same -- at least not without intervention to salvage the ones that were becoming too browned before they burned. If you thoroughly enjoy the experience of watching the glow as your bread is toasted to the exclusion of all other sensory input, then this just might be your Zen choice for a toaster.

Yes, but for max broiling performance you'll want your rack as high as it will go and the burners on high.

When I broil, I set the selector knob on "broil", the temp knob on "broil" and then set the time. I have not tried to change the temperature while broiling.

What power (watts) to operate it?

This oven is rated at 1500 watts. At 120 volts, this would take (1500/120) 12.5 amps to operate.

The continuous load with both coils and convection oven should not be more than 10 amps, and normally less. When the coils cycle on there will be a momentary spike is use, but a regular 15-amp home outlet should handle it nicely.

It is not recommended to operate any other large appliances while the oven is in operation, as you may exceed your circuit limits.

Don't know about your T/O, but we use our EuroPro/GE from Walmart to do all of those things. Only time in the past three years that we've used our regular oven is to bake a too-huge batch of cookies.
Two things we learned about baking things:
1. Always use parchment paper on the baking sheet. No burned bottoms.
2. Use a meat thermometer when baking bread. When the bread gets to 200 degrees, it is done.

It bakes, heats, broils, toasts---so yes you can. However it is not as large as a stove oven, so you would do one layer of cake at a time.

Your instruction manual should have told you to set the T/O to Toast, set it at the highest temp, and run it with the door open for fifteen minutes. All the fabrication lubes and coatings will burn off after which you are good to go.

A whole lot less than your regular oven when you are cooking two fish sticks for your kid.
Get to know and love your T/O and save your regular oven for when you have to bake cookies for your Brownie troop.

A lot less than your regular oven since the space is smaller. Less space means less heat it takes to maintain the temperature.

answer 3
1500 watts, maximum of 12.5 amps, more like 10 amps continuous.

This is designed to work safely with normal residential 15-amp circuits. Do not use other large appliances on the same circuit at the same time.

Yes. Use the convection oven part of the unit. The fan blows the heat around the inside of the oven so everything heats evenly.

answer 3
I don't see why not...I'd use either the Baking settng (if cooking for the first time) or the Toaster setting (if re-heating and just warming up).
As with a microwave, be careful not to over-cook, and you should be fine.

Without x-ray vision, hard to say for certain and the user manual doesn't spell that out, but I would guess that it's aluminum, so I wouldn't use it to hold food with any acidity or it will stain it immediately.

Question

Does the power turn off when the door is opened on the tro4075?

I've had 3 other B&D toaster ovens and they"ve all had the feature I like best: power turns off when the door is opened. From above comments it's clear that this does not happen on continuous, stay-on feature. Does the power turn off when the door is opened during the timed toast, bake and broil features?
