This has the Emerson brand name but is actually a Samsung model - shine a flashlight inside the back left speaker grille to see this. Except for the lack of inputs (switchboxes can take care of this issue), the TV has given me no trouble and has a great picture. I suppose if you have HD cable or Blu-Ray, and can really tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, you might be disappointed, but otherwise it has turned out to be a steal.

I purchased the Emerson 42" plasma TV about 10 days ago to use for TV viewing only. I have no complaints to report. I have been using Emerson products trouble free for over 35 years.

I don't know where you heard it is no good from but this TV has an excellent picture for the price. It looks fantastic when watching HD content such as Blu-ray and HD DVD. The biggest drawback is the lack of inputs.

with 720p, if your just using it for cable tv, or just some kind of programming, you wont see any difference between this and a 1080 and 720 tv, but if your into gaming, the reason this is so cheap is because you will see slight pixelation at times, other than that, it seems like a good buy to me

The industry, at large, is trying to phase out 720P HDTV's. With so many new products coming out - anything that's not LED/LCD, 1080P will have a significant price reduction. Great time to buy these reduced-priced sets.

does this TV come with the parts needed for wall mounting?

While it is wall mountable, you would have to buy a bracket seperately.

answer 2
If by parts you mean the actual mounting kit, then no.

Most tvs do not come with mounting kits. You will need to purchase a mounting kit regardless of the TV you purchase.

This TV does not have a built in DVD player. Unless you are specifically in need of such for space constraints, you'd be better off purchasing a seperate DVD player or even a Blu-Ray player as standalone ones typically perform better, have more features and are more reliable.

To correct gameguru22, the xbox 360 can operate at resolutions of 1080p. I bought the 32" Vizio with the 1080p and it automatically adjusts to 1080p and looks amazing! I have also hooked it up to the Vizio with 720p and you can REALLY tell the difference.

This TV actually comes with a "Game Mode" Feature. It will adjust the picture quality to meat the demands of console gaming.

The only difference between 720p and 1080p is the resolution. Console games such as xbox and ps3, only run at a single resolution of 1024x768, aka 720p. Currently only the ps3 can upscale to 1080 resolutions, and not for games, but for blue ray/dvd movies.

This TV is excellent for gaming. There is no reason to justify a 1080p TV for gaming when no console can game at 1080 resolutions.

Yes, it has a shiny black finish. The bezel is rounded enough so that it does't pose annoying reflections of your light is spaced wider (mine are lamps on either sides of a queen bed on the other side of the room) or higher than the TV, it would be worse if it was a flat bezel or your light was spaced closer together.
