This has the Emerson brand name but is actually a Samsung model - shine a flashlight inside the back left speaker grille to see this. Except for the lack of inputs (switchboxes can take care of this issue), the TV has given me no trouble and has a great picture. I suppose if you have HD cable or Blu-Ray, and can really tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, you might be disappointed, but otherwise it has turned out to be a steal.

I purchased the Emerson 42" plasma TV about 10 days ago to use for TV viewing only. I have no complaints to report. I have been using Emerson products trouble free for over 35 years.

I don't know where you heard it is no good from but this TV has an excellent picture for the price. It looks fantastic when watching HD content such as Blu-ray and HD DVD. The biggest drawback is the lack of inputs.

Yes, it has a shiny black finish. The bezel is rounded enough so that it does't pose annoying reflections of your light is spaced wider (mine are lamps on either sides of a queen bed on the other side of the room) or higher than the TV, it would be worse if it was a flat bezel or your light was spaced closer together.

Question

Can we get more detailed Speciications & a Model Number?

The specifications provided are on the light side. i.e. actual number of ports HDMI, Composite, w/ Photo, etc. Typically when you go to the manufactures website w/ model # you get much more details. Thanks in advance.

It has two HDMIs. The composite/component is a shared set of inputs. It has an optical output for sound.

Stuff like response time and contrast ratio are debateable. It has a Samsung panel, I'd guess the 30,000:1 is with dynamic contrast off, but who knows how those figures are really achieved. It technically isn't 60hz either as plasmas are usually spec for 600hz (which isn't entirely true either but just to show they're faster responding than the fasted LCDs).

This set is not on Emerson's website, it is very similar to the Samsung PN42B400.

It probably uses a tad more than a 32" picture tube but not likely much or at least not enough to double your electric bill. It actually uses less than my 4 year old 32" LCD did. I was out sick most of last month, and watched this TV extensively (almost double what I'd normally watch), the electric bill was maybe $10 higher than normal.

with 720p, if your just using it for cable tv, or just some kind of programming, you wont see any difference between this and a 1080 and 720 tv, but if your into gaming, the reason this is so cheap is because you will see slight pixelation at times, other than that, it seems like a good buy to me

The industry, at large, is trying to phase out 720P HDTV's. With so many new products coming out - anything that's not LED/LCD, 1080P will have a significant price reduction. Great time to buy these reduced-priced sets.
