Question

5'8", with basement ceiling height of 6'10'. How can I tell the step up height? Gold's 595 is 5'3"tall.

I have searched on Gold's gym, many other elliptical trainer reviews sites, and come up with nothing. Don't want ot haul this home and my husbands banging his head on basement ceiling to get a work out. Very frustrating that footprint is always added to specifications, but not the "rise height" once you're on. ANyone out there have thios machine in a low basement?

The very back of the pedal at the highest point in the revolution is at 18.5 inches off the floor - though that is also at an incline downwards towards the front of the machine. Most likely you will be standing somewhere more forward on the pedal from the highest point - so you can expect about a 16 inch rise.

I have an 8 foot ceiling in my house, and I stand at 6'2". When standing on the trainer, I am just shy of eye level with the ceiling fan in the room - which itself has a 5-6 inch drop from the ceiling.

answer 2
This elliptical from the floor to the top of the handles is 5'6". When I'm on it, I rise to at least 6'6" coz the pedals are 15" from the floor. A 6'10" ceiling height would be cutting it close.

Question

I'd like to hear from customers who have had this for some time...

I've read good reviews and the not so good reviews, so I'm very skeptical of purchasing it. It would be my like that I'd get one that doesn't work or something and be like the other unsatisfied customers...Thanks for your time.

i've had great results with mine. it's def. not perfect but you def. get a lot for the price. it's a bit creaky and needs tightening up every so often but overall i'd recommend it. i use it about 4 times a week and haven't had any issues. the speakers are great too - good sound quality. makes working out with music or tv shows all the better. good luck!

Turns out the resistance brake control arm was broken and the brake was in the full position, hence no movement.
I am waiting on part to be shipped and repairman to come back a second time.

A review on 9/27/2010 says to set it to positive. Specifically, "I bought a $14 Powerline universal AC adapter (3-12 Volts/600ma) from Walmart and it works perfectly. Set it to 6V and be sure to use positive polarity or you will ruin your console."
