I think 1 is the lowest. Try doing smaller sets. Try going only 5 minutes and work your way up to longer times if you can.

Question

5'8", with basement ceiling height of 6'10'. How can I tell the step up height? Gold's 595 is 5'3"tall.

I have searched on Gold's gym, many other elliptical trainer reviews sites, and come up with nothing. Don't want ot haul this home and my husbands banging his head on basement ceiling to get a work out. Very frustrating that footprint is always added to specifications, but not the "rise height" once you're on. ANyone out there have thios machine in a low basement?

The very back of the pedal at the highest point in the revolution is at 18.5 inches off the floor - though that is also at an incline downwards towards the front of the machine. Most likely you will be standing somewhere more forward on the pedal from the highest point - so you can expect about a 16 inch rise.

I have an 8 foot ceiling in my house, and I stand at 6'2". When standing on the trainer, I am just shy of eye level with the ceiling fan in the room - which itself has a 5-6 inch drop from the ceiling.

answer 2
This elliptical from the floor to the top of the handles is 5'6". When I'm on it, I rise to at least 6'6" coz the pedals are 15" from the floor. A 6'10" ceiling height would be cutting it close.

Question

Good to use in a carpeted room?

Is this particular elliptical good for home use, in a carpeted room? Should there be a mat placed under it? I plan on using it daily for about an hr. Thanks!

I put it in my carpeted room and my bf put 2 pieces of plywood under it (40 x 16inches), he said to distribute the weight well and protect the carpet. Seems to be working.

I use it on my carpeted room. It rocks side to side a little, but that is mentioned in the manual, and how to fix the problem. The rocking also indicates that I am rocking side to side instead of standing straight up using my legs.

I don't own this machine yet, but I was just taking some measurements on the display in the store last night to make sure it would fit where I want it. I measured the pedals to be about 18 inches high at their highest point.
