the workout number is on the far right and shares this spot with the revolutions number. I start walking then as soon as the control come on, stop and then select my workout number. The power level is the center number on the display ans shares the spot with the lap counter or powe level bar graph. when you are using the machine the powere level only comes on when it change and then only for a second or two. pushing the up or down button will change the power level and show you the level it has changed to.

To change which workout you are doing, you can toggle through them by pressing the up or down buttons labeled 'Workouts.' The workouts are also listed on the console, the intensity is shown by the height of the bars on the listed workout. The higher the bar the more resistance and higher intensity the workout will be.

You need an adapter with a 6 volt output, which you should be able to get from Radio Shack.

Question

5'8", with basement ceiling height of 6'10'. How can I tell the step up height? Gold's 595 is 5'3"tall.

I have searched on Gold's gym, many other elliptical trainer reviews sites, and come up with nothing. Don't want ot haul this home and my husbands banging his head on basement ceiling to get a work out. Very frustrating that footprint is always added to specifications, but not the "rise height" once you're on. ANyone out there have thios machine in a low basement?

The very back of the pedal at the highest point in the revolution is at 18.5 inches off the floor - though that is also at an incline downwards towards the front of the machine. Most likely you will be standing somewhere more forward on the pedal from the highest point - so you can expect about a 16 inch rise.

I have an 8 foot ceiling in my house, and I stand at 6'2". When standing on the trainer, I am just shy of eye level with the ceiling fan in the room - which itself has a 5-6 inch drop from the ceiling.

answer 2
This elliptical from the floor to the top of the handles is 5'6". When I'm on it, I rise to at least 6'6" coz the pedals are 15" from the floor. A 6'10" ceiling height would be cutting it close.

I have no idea. The flywheel came assembled inside the machine. You only need to assemble the handles, foot pedals and plastic name plate cover, gold gym. You need two people to lift it out or get it out of the box. You don't need to handle the flywheel itself. Also, the magnetic resistance is adjustable, the increase or decrease of which makes the flywheel heavier or lighter for you to pedal. Hope my answers helped you.

I don't own this machine yet, but I was just taking some measurements on the display in the store last night to make sure it would fit where I want it. I measured the pedals to be about 18 inches high at their highest point.

A review on 9/27/2010 says to set it to positive. Specifically, "I bought a $14 Powerline universal AC adapter (3-12 Volts/600ma) from Walmart and it works perfectly. Set it to 6V and be sure to use positive polarity or you will ruin your console."
