This subwoofer is flexible and can be connected 2 different ways - wired or by plug-in, but you need to connect it to a subwoofer jack on your receiver or amp.

you could but it would not be worth it...
if you want real sound buy a real amp and real speakers...this sub would over power what you are hooking it up to.

It has a line level input at the rear of it. Check with the manufacturer of your TV if your TV can be connected to such an input. To see the diagram of the rear of the subwoofer, click on the link below:

You can connect the subwoofer to the receiver of your home theater system in one of two ways. The Sony SA-W2500 subwoofer has both a line level input that you can connect to the 'sub out' at the back of your receiver and also speaker terminals so that you can loop through your front two speakers.

The subwoofer supplies bass punch only, you also need speakers in order to get speaker output, unless the TV speakers will work at the same time.

answer 2
you can hook it up to a tv but you will only have bass response... you will not have speaker response... for what ever reason... when you use the rca input you get no satalite speaker sound..
it would not be advisable to do it that way bass response would over power the sound of the tv

The Sony SA-W2500 can take both speaker and line level outputs. If the device does not have a subwoofer line output you can use the twin L/R stereo line outs and use an adaptor to merge the stereo signal to mono.

Yes, the Sony SA-W2500 will take a line level input, however if the source device has a dual L/R line out but does not have a subwoofer mono out jack you will need to combine the left and right channels using an adapter.

If you have a Surround Sound Amplifier (Fairly New) It should have a subwoofer jack in the back. If not the Subwoofer instructions tell you how to wire it in with your speaker wires. I have a Pioneer Surround Sound and had to set it a certain way before the subwoofer would work. Bill
