I've had mine 3 yrs now & have kept it up through the winter with no problems. I do drain the water 1/2 way down to make sure no water can freeze through the hose holes. I'd left my 1st full 4 yrs ago and when it froze ice formed in the hose hole and when the ice cracked it tore the pool wall. I keep water in it so the strong spring winds don't tear it down.

My pool was not anchored down and I didn't keep any water in it. The wind caught it. Bent several poles and connectors. What may be more of interest to you is that the plastic surface skimmer housing that the pump mounts to cracked in several places when we had a deep freeze (14F).

We had ours for 5 years and now the poles are rusted out. It costs more to replace the poles than to buy another pool. So we are going to buy a new pool this year.

It will sag sideways and eventually fall.

answer 2
yes. although you can probably get away with it not being perfectly level, the force of water to one side will stress the frame.

also, if you have splashers/children that like to make waves to the point that it wets the ground, you will find that the post will sink more causes the leveling issue to get worse.

You use all the normal chemicals, unless you purchase the salt system from wal-mart. But you use Chlorine, and an Algae preventer or killer, and Baking soda to keep up the PH. The salt system takes away all the chemicals and you use salt only. First you have to get the water clear and clean with chemicals and at the right chlorine and ph levels. Then the salt will keep it stabilized.

Question

Can the ladder be removed daily?

I'm thinking of buying this product for my older kids to use, but afraid of having one around with my 3 year old. If the ladder can be removed EASILY, I would consider buying it. Does anyone know?

Yes, the ladder is pretty easy to remove. You could do it yourself or have your kids help you. We take ours out every night.

Question

chemicals or salt water system???? HELP!

My wife and I just ordered the 15x48 pool and I was wondering what its going to cost me to use chemicals for this years pool season. I would also like to know how much it would cost to use the salt water system? We plan on using it at least every other day. I'm on a budget and would like to be as cost conservative as possible. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

We bought one a couple of weeks ago and so far we are using lots of chlorine tabs in a floater. The most expensive item is the filter which we replace weekly ($5 each in a 2 pack). The chlorine tabs (1 inch) cost us about $10/ month....so it's costing us about $30/month. We also keep the pump plugged in continuously. We've had pools like this for 11 years and our neighbor has given us this advice for keeping it crystal clear each season (something we've struggled with for years using all sorts of chemicals). So far so good and it's wonderful to have a sparkling pool everyday!

All we have used so far is chlorine and ph leveler. You can get a water test kit at Target for $5 as well as a gallon of chlorine ($6) and ph + and - (about $5 each). These chemicals are strong and I only use about 1/2 cup chlorine at a time and about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of the ph. My kids swim almost daily and I've used about 1/2 the chlorine and only about 1/6 of the ph over a 2 week period. Not expensive at all. My kids eyes are a little red at times, but if they wear goggles they are all good.

The formula for round pools is Width times Length times Depth times 5.9. a 15 foot by 4 foot deep holds 5310 gallons. (15x15x4x5.9=5310). It will actually hold a little less because you wont fill it all the way to the rim.
