I just purchased this pool, too, just last week, but it is actually made by Intex, if you read the manufacturer's information on the booklet that comes with your pool. My pool even has Intex stamped on the side. So yes, this salt water system will work with your pool.

Question

Where do you hook this up if you use a roof solar heater...before the heater or after?

Our pool is next to our garage, we have a solar heater on the garage roof, should we connect this at the pump or at the return after the solar heater?

It connects between the pump and the pool.

this (has to hook to the water out side line leaving your filter to pool first) water pass's through this that has the set up for grabbing everything in your water & electrolytic cell to produce chlorine & oxidizes everything else

Question

Timer on Saltwater System?

Once I've diluted the salt in the water for the 24 hours, while running the filter pump, and I'm ready to start the saltwater system - when I set my hours on the salt water system for the 1st time, is that when the hours begin right then or is there another way to program your hours when you would like to have it start??

Unfortunately, you cannot pre-program a start time, so it will start each day at whatever time you programed it. Just make sure you have the pump on at that time each day and reprogram the timer after power outages. I have my pump on a mechanical timer so that it will run the same time every day and be on the when the chlorinator comes on.

From what I can tell the time starts when the unit says working. It will come on at that time each day. The only way I have found to change that is to unplug unit and start it at a different time. The start time is not programmable, this is the only way to change it.

I will say no! you have shocked the pool but if you live in a sunny spot the sun will do that chlorine in in a day or two & taking readings you will see when it calls for chlorine. as your filter pump is running turn on your salt system, lets say, it set to run for (4) hrs look down at the very end of salt system you should see that the water running through this tube is kind of salty at the end of the exiting tube. it means it's working. look at the water going into the pool there should be zillions on little sparkles going on like mini bubbles it's working

You shouldn't have to, eventually your chlorine will be filtered out. The salt actually creates what they call "free chlorine". The only drawback I would see would be you may not get the full benefits of the saltwater system for a while such as...you'll still smell the chlorine, might still burn your eyes, fade your swimsuits, etc. for a while, but it should be a smooth tranition. Make sure you follow the directions though and let the pool set for the correct time after adding salt before you run the system or swim.

Pool Salt, this is available at Wal-Mart as well. I think it was around 5-6 dollars a bag. And no, you do not use any chlorine at all.

this is just a chlorinator, you need a pump and filter to work with it.

you have to have the pump already- this product does not circulate (pump) water, it simply treats (converts) the water that flows through it, nor does it filter. The flow/circulation comes from one place and that is the pools existing pump, as well as the filtering of the water.

Question

Will this pump replace the pump that came with the pool?

Would this filter replace the old pump and filter? I purchased an Intex 18x42 pool 2 summers ago and have had to replace the pump twice. Found them at Walmart.com before now can't find them. Can anyone help me?

This is not a pump it is only a chlorine generator. You need to have a separate pump to go with this one. There is a combo unit you can get though I would recommend using this with a separate pump.
