Yes. You can set the auto dial to 911, your local police number, or any phone number you want. You should contact your local police and talk to them about doing that. The police in one town I lived in wanted people to fill out a form each year if they had an alarm system with dial out.

you can put in 6 different phone numbers for it to call, you make a message on the control unit just like a answering machine.

answer 4
You can program any number you like, I would caution against having it dial the police because they might not appreciate a false alarm.

no, but you can have it call you and you can call the police or have it set up to a monitoring station

answer 6
yes. it will dial any set of numbers, in order. i have mine set to dial my cell phone first. if i don't answer or if i just hang up without cancelling the alarm, it will then dial 911. it allows recording of a custom message - mine says "come to this address because there is a burglar alarm going off."

Question

8hrs last? rechargeable what?

when it says the alarm host battery lasts 8hrs, does that mean that we can only leave on vacation or away from the house for just 8hrs?? what exactly needs to be plugged in to a home regular phone line and/or the wall electricity (AC socket)? thx!

8 hrs is how long the internal backup battery will last when and if the power should ever go out.
answered 2 weeks, 4 days ago
By
SecurityMan Inc - Tech Support
answer 2
No. The battery lasts 8 hours in the event of a power failure or in the event that the thief cuts power to the house. The system runs of house power, so your vacation can be as long as you want.

as long as power is at your outlet, your unit runs on that. if power goes out, then it uses the internal battery.
the control panel needs a power outlet and it also needs a phone line.

answer 4
Under normal circumstance the alarm system is plugged into a standard AC wall outlet for power. If your power goes out for some reason, the internal battery will take over and should last about 8hrs. Connecting the unit to a phone line is optional, the phone connection is used to dial preset numbers and play a recording in the event your alarm is triggered.

I read the answer to this question and it said that it means that if you had a power failure then the charge would last for 8 hours, but when the power came back on it would reset and charge itself again. So, I think you can be gone as long as you like. Hope that helps.

You don't have to attach the main unit to a wall. You can simply place it on a desk. The motion sensor is typically mounted to a wall, but you could mount it to anything.

you will need to attach it somewhere and have a power outlet to plug in. plus make it close to a phone jack.

answer 4
Host controller just needs to be plugged into the wall - could be placed on a bookcase etc. Sensors would need to be attached to windows/doors. I used the supplied 3M doubled sided tape for the sensors. Not easy to readjust placement. In an apartment I would see if that removable double sided tape for plastic hangers would be wide enough. Possible even use two strips side by side for the sensors (about twp figures wide) contacts are about 1 figure wide. Worth a try for peace of mind.

answer 5
No installation needed. It can be placed anywhere close to a power outlet and phone jack. It does not have to be mounted on the wall. However, if a burglar broke in and found the unit and smashed it to piece, that would silent everything, including the phone dialer.

The unit must have access a standard telephone line connection. If you're using an internet phone service, the alarm will interface with the modem/internet phone unit as any other conventional phone(not cellular) would. Those with only high speed internet can explore options like Magic Jack and Ooma.
