Yes, probably. My 7 year old can open it easily. I love this gate.

Yes. My 5 year old daughter goes in and out with ease and it still keeps the younger 0-3 year olds out. It took my 5 year old a good week to perfect the handle.

Probably. Can be difficult to open at times - need strength and coordination so an 8 year old can use it no problem, not sure about a 4 year old though.

i have a 2,3,5,7&8 yr old and my 2 yr old can not open it. but the rest can, which i am okay with i just needed to explain it to them and it took some practice but they can do it now, the difference is that as an adult i can do it with 1 hand and they all need to use both.

- broken arrow, ok
yes it will ! u have to push 2 buttons in and then the handle down so i think they shouldnt be able to open it
I think it would work just fine! It's not too easy or difficult to open. A baby can't reach the top, but bigger kids should have no trouble getting it open and closed.
No, Its very hard to open. I struggled as an adult and ended up just stepping over it.
my 4 yo can not open it. His hands are not big enough to push in both buttons at the same time. You would be better off with the hands free one. My son was able to open it by jumping up and down like a pogo stick. Hope this helps.

When you open the gate there are 2 buttons on each side you must hold in and then while holding in the buttons you have to push down on the handle for an 8 yr old it shouldnt be hard to figure out but for a 4 yr old its maybe to complicated...it works great on my 2 yr old she cant shake it free or figure out how to open it

There are 2 buttons on the handle that have to be pressed at the same time before the gate can be opened. An older child may or may not have the dexterity to operate them both.
