No. After a while I notice that I have heard the same song several times, but it certainly isn't bothersome. The MP3 port allows you to play anything you want for as long as you want. The sound quality is as good as any radio.

Yes it does which is one main reason I purchased it. Most of the others have a timer and I would jump up to turn it back on when it would turn off so that my son wouldn't wake up as it really does help him sleep. Love this machine!!

I don't know about the nano, but my iPhone4 doesn't not fit inside it. The cord is long enough that if it doesn't, you can set it aside the machine

Yes, my big iPod fits in it even. Just remember you need to charge the iPod first as this doesn't not give the iPod power, only hooks in to the headphone jack.

Yes, it can run on either 4 AA bateries or through the plug in port. Another thing we loved is that you can set a timer on the machine so that it will turn off on it's own, we also found that the sounds and the nightlight are independent you don't have to have both running at the same time.
