Questions & Answers for Coleman Coleman Max 150 Lumen Ultra High Power Aluminum LED Flashlight

Question

What are all the details concerning the on/off button on this product?

Where is the button? Side or rear switch? Also, is there a strobe function in the on/off switch? I'm only interested in buying if the product has the switch on the bottom rear of the flashlight and it would be nice if it had a strobe function as well. Is this water resistant or just "weather resistant"? I will use it in all weather environments, everyday type use and possibly work related use as well . . . depending. Thanks. model No. 2.00000653E9

It is a bottom rear button on/off switch. No strobe feature. The batteries are 3 AAA and they are sealed in with a o-ring screw cap so it should be pretty water proof. I don't know if you could go under the water.

Rear switch, but don't use water resistance although no damage from rain. It is very tough if you drop it.

The switch is at the Butt of the light, nice feature that prevents it from being turned on accidentally. The switch is covered my a rubber textured piece but is just a on/off switch, no strobe effect on it unless you can click it on and off really fast. As far as water proof goes I just filled my sink up with water and submerged the light for 10 minutes switching it on and off several times under water, didn't phase it. This is an awesome light read my review of it, you wont be disappointed my friend. I hope this helps.

On/ Off button at back of light, no strobe and no color changing, simply one powerful little light. WATER PROOF, even though it is not specified. 17hrs in 5ft of water, when fished out...Still worked like a champ! GREAT buy strongly recommend!

Button on rear of light. It has no strobe function, but it is weather resistant, and maybe water, I'm not sure. It is perfect for me and I carry it everywhere.

It has a bottom rear switch.

I have the version that is a plain jane bright flashlight and does not have the dial for the 3 colors.

I work in security, and I've stopped using my Streamlight Stinger rechargeable that I was issued in favor of this one. It's just brighter. I don't know off the top of my head if it is waterproof, but I use it in all kinds of weather (Oklahoma: rain, blizzard snow, sleet, ice, heat, humidity) and have not had any issues with it.

Hope this helps.

Rear Switch. No strobe function. Have not used it in a really wet environment yet, so no idea how water resistant it is. I do use it outdoors in my line of work (security)

Question

is there an attachment loop/ring?

I am preparing to walk the Camino and am looking for a light that will let me look up into the tops of cathedrals and see the carvings, but is not heavy and will be attachable to me (with idiot loop) somehow. Bonus for water resistant and at least some drop resistance.

No. It doesn't have a loop ring or a lanyard. Can't help you with the water resistant question but I've dropped mine a couple of times and so far it's still working fine. Depends of how big is the drop, I imagine...

No loop attachment...but, it would be possible to wrap some type of cord around the bottom end(away from the light itself) and then attach to your belt loop..etc..with a hook closure. Flashlight is not heavy, and is very durable. ( I have dropped mine a few times) Not sure about how it would hold up in heavy rain or water conditions. Very bright light. Well worth the money.

No. It is very bright. So bright that you don't want to look into the light. If you want to dim it, you could always place some sort of filter over the lens. I wrapped the flashlight with a thin layer of newspaper to protect the flashlight from dirt and damage, but to also focus the beam to a smaller area.

answer 3
unscrew the back of the flashlight, just ahead of the spot you press the button to turn it on. It might be a little hard to turn. The end of the flashlight will slide out and you will see the batteries there. The batteries might be hard to remove and if so, carefully use something like a small screwdriver to pop one end of each battery out. Getting the new batteries in won't be a problem. If you need help, you could always bring the flashlight to WalMart, or RadioShack or wherever you bought it for help the first time.

The back unscrews. It will feel a little tight but that is because it has an O ring that keeps water out.

No, this flashlight uses three Triple-A Batteries. You could use rechargeable batteries. The documentation says the batteries last about three hours. I haven't tested it to find out how long the batteries last, but I use the flashlight daily for a combined 20-30 minutes daily and have not had to change the batteries yet.

Sorry! I don't have an accurate answer for this.

If I needed a holster for this flashlight I would find someone who does custom leather work and have them make me one.

Past that I would contact Coleman: http://www.coleman.com/products/1100 and see if they have a holster or could point me in the right direction.

Past that I'd check eBay and any vendor that specializes in flashlights.

Sorry! I couldn't be more help; best I can do Herb.

The base of the flashlight screws off instead of the section closer to the light like many others do. Once you have unscrewed it the casing for the batteries slides out with the base and then you just have to make sure you place your batteries in correctly (battery negative side to spring) and then just slide it back in and screw it closed.

answer 3
Hopefully, you've figured out the answer to this question by now.

But, I have to admit this also gave me a problem when I first tried it; changing batteries in this flashlight is not as straight forward as it is with most flashlights.

When you first unscrew the back and see how the batteries are oriented it appears as if the batteries will not come out, but I assure you they will.

Find the negative (flat side) side of the battery then go to the opposite end of the battery (positive side) and with your fingernail or small screwdriver (whatever works for you) press on the positive side of the battery, pull it towards you, then remove it.

Place the negative side of the new battery on the spring, press down, and push in.

Hope this helps.

Question

The item description clearly indicates this light changes colors, so how does it to it?

The item description on the wen site clearly indicates "3 settings: white for general purpose; red for enhanced night vision; blue for blood trails" and it also indicates "Rotating collar to select light color". This is False Advertising. I purchased one on line and this particular light does not do that. I am very disappointed.

You are looking at the wrong flashlight, this one does not change colors. Coleman does make a flashlight that changes color but this one does not. Try to search again and you will find the one your looking for. Though this flashlight is brighter than the color change one.

That is a different flashlight, they look very similar but the other one has a rotary switch just behind the bulb housing. It appears they got it mixed up with the other Coleman light when writing the specs. Here is the other one
