You sign up for Vudu through the Netcast Icon on Home Page of the player. After opening Netcast click on the Vudu icon. If you are already a member then use your password. You will need to activate this unit with Vudu, they will give you a code to use at your computer when you go to their website, after you enter the code it will link up with your unit and setup your acct, then you are good to go. VERY easy. They just credit your acct. with the $10.00. Just following the instructions when you click on the Vudu icon.

Question

How can I connect to the Internet?

I just received this item as a gift and was hoping someone could provide some feedback since I am not technically savy. I would like to be able to connect this to the internet. I have a wireless router but it is in a different room and I can not connect to the wire. I read another comment about a USB wireless adapter but there are so many out there and I am not sure if this is the best/only option? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

If you can't connect directly to your router using Ethernet cable then buy another player that has WiFi that doesn't need an adapter. It would be cheaper than buying an adapter for this unit. Ethernet connection is the most reliable/stable. For best WiFi connection the closer to the unit the better. Not more than 30 feet is recommended but I have one that is more than that. It depends on your router. You might want to call your router's tech help line to see what they recommend. Like I said, Ethernet is far more reliable and much easier to setup, just plug in the cable.

buy a product called: TRENDNET WIRELESS N GAMING ADAPTER.
bought mine or 35 dollars from amazon.com product comes w/ an adapter, Ethernet cable, cd rom, intruction manual, power supply.

connect the adapter to your main router with the ethernet cable and power supply. insert cd rom, follow instruction. when finished disconnect, and hook up ethernet cable to your blu ray and plug in power supply. then it connects to your internet wirelessly! Worked for me!

I had the same problem. didn't want to run a wire throughout the whole house!

Wi-fi is not a good solution.

I tried it and it could not keep up.

You need to get an ethernet cable to the player.

I know it is tough. I had to go through 2 walls to get the cable to mine.

Use a snap in wall plate and it will look very professional.

Question

AV, HDMI, Ethernet .... cables?

So I have been reading the Q&A's, but I am utterly confused. I know nothing about technology so I apologize. I see that this product comes with an AV cable. So in order to play movies from Netflix, I would need to purchase an Ethernet cable, and to watch the Blue Ray discs I need to buy an HDMI cable also?? Then what is the AV cable for? Or is the HDMI and AV the same thing? Sorry, I just want to be thoroughly informed before purchasing. Thanks to anyone who answers!!

For BluRay you will need to connect using an HDMI cable. HDMI transfers video and audio for your HDTV. Forget the AV. You will need an Ethernet cable to connect to your router. Very easy to do both. Just plug them in. You can purchase very good and cheap cables at MONOPRICE.com

Simple to keep it cheap there is no HDMI cable. The supplied cable is low resolution
If you can hook into HDMI then its a pure digital signal sent with the best bit streaming. You don't have to OVERPAY for the cable like most places will tell you to do. A 10ft cable should cost no more then $20 bucks.

I also didn't know anything about these things before I bought this one. I have found that I needed to purchase an ethernet cable to connect it to my modem to stream netflix. It comes with a cable to connect to the TV in ordr to watch anything BUT if you want the highest quality picture, you have to buy another one that has better quality. I used the one in the box and it looks fine to me!

In order to watch movies from Netflix you would need to run a ethernet cable from your router to your bluray device. I bought a 150' cable from Ebay for about seven dollars. My router was on the other side of the house so make sure you get enough cord. You can watch Blue ray without HDMI cables but we bought one anyway. Some TVs do not have HDMI hook up so the AV cords work just like the old DVD players. They are the same.

answer 8
The AV cable is for "good" video quality out of "good, better, best". It is not what you want to use for BluRay. "Better" is a component cable (Red, Green, Blue connections) and is the best that some older TV's can use. "Best" is HDMI which carries audio signals also. Look at the back of your TV for HDMI, component (a row of RCA connectors, one each: Red, Green, Blue). Get a cable for the best one available (and, no, you do not need $50 cables).
Yes, you will need an Ethernet cable and a place to plug it in, usually a router.
I hope this helps. Enjoy.

You must connect bluray player to the router using an Ethernet connection or buy a WiFi adapter. It would be cheaper to buy another player that doesn't require adapter than to add one to this player. That is if you can take this player back and get a refund. Ethernet is more reliable connection than Wifi.

You do need a LAN connection somehow. If you have digital cable, you may find your set-top box has a RJ45/ethernet jack on the back. I accidentally discovered mine acts as a hub, allowing me to plug to the LAN connection of the BD player (my provider is Uverse).

If this is not possible, most people use a wireless router at the modem end and a compact wireless connector (dongle) on the BD player to connect.

Yes, the player requires an ethernet cable to hook up to the internet. I have mine plugged into the back of my router. It will NOT pick up a wireless signal. Some more expensive players can pick up wireless signals... so unless you want to run a really long ethernet cable from one room to the next, it might be better to buy a player with wireless capabilities.

It shouldn't. Go to an electronics store & buy a wireless bridge. don't settle for a simple "media wireless bridge" as the features are limited & usually only has one network port. For the same price you can buy a better bridge that will provide more flexibility now and in the future. Simply set up the bridge on your PC nework, then connect it to the blueray player & set it up there. Took me 5min & really love the added features (stream netflix movies, music, pics, etc)

No. Netflix is a streaming service that is available in NetCast Entertainment that is built into the system.

You will need a Netflix subscription that includes their streaming services.

The cable (AV or HDMI) that connects the player to the TV is all that is needed. No separate cables are needed for the NetCast features.

No computer, it has the NetFlix app built in. Also DivX, VuDu, MLB YouTube and a few others. You need to connect to the TV. Can't remember what cables are supported other than HDMI, but make sure one is common between the player and your TV. Needs an internet connection (RJ45/ethernet). This model has to be wired, they have other wireless models, but keep in mind you may not have as much bandwidth as a wired connection. I found the RJ45 on my set top box repeated the coax ethernet signal, so I didn't have to run another drop.

You need to connect the player to your network, but not to your PC. It actually is a computer. This player only supports a wired Ethernet connection (not wireless/wifi - which is inferior anyhow). You'll need a standard Ethernet patch cable (CAT5, CAT5E, CAT6 or CAT7 will do) and reasonable proximity to your network router or network switch.
