Yes. It's very easy to install, with all of the prompts described in the easy-to-understand guide. If you have problems with the installation, it gives hints, not many, but I didn't have problems installing mine. You don't have to be computer savvy to install it.

You would need something to put your network out wireless. Some internet providers have gateways that function as wireless routers. Some do not.

Will this work with Google Chrome OS?

Trying to get a recently retired member of the families computer to connect wireless to the internet. She used her personal computer at work, which the works IT department installed Google Chrome OS on it. Trying to avoid running a 250'+ Ethernet cable throughout the house. Would like to encourage any alternative ideas, besides buying a new computer or buying Windows OS of course. Thanks.

No this adapter will not work with google chrome os. Also, Google Chrome IS in fact an actual operating sytem. Please disregard the last user comment. It will not work because the proper drivers required are not developed yet. Thanks

Google Chrome is NOT an operating system, it is an internet browser. Operating systems would be Mac Os X, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

USB Adapters communicate through WiFi devices such as routers you have in your home or WiFi hotspots you find at many restaurants and other businesses. You can download the items you mention, but the product does not come with the internet service already connected.

Yes it will, however the data transfer rate is so low, it makes the connection from your cell phone very weak. I would go with the NETGEAR N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter. Signal is very strong and I was able to run a Graphics intense online video game through a iPhone hot spot using the above adapter.

Yes, if all is configured properly. Most any wireless adapters should be able to access the WiFi hotspot.

You need internet service, and the router or modem you have has to have wireless capability to be able to use wifi from your computer.

Yes. I have an older Dell tower that doesn't have a built in modem for wifi. This connects it to our home's wireless network. Now we have internet access on that computer.

NO it does not work with Windows 8.
I bought the thing and it destabilizes the system and I looked it up online and there is no fix. Netgear doesn't even acknowledge the issue and if you type into your search engine "IRQL unexpected error" you will see the problem.
The rave reviews are probably Netgear marketers. It is junk and I am taking it back.
Netgear used to be good but not anymore.

i have 2. one on windows vista and just bought one for windows 7. works like a charm on both. im sure it will work great on windows 8 as well. this is a really good, inexpensive, quick and easy adapter.

Last year we went on a three month long road trip 3/4 of the way across the US, I was able to use this 99.9% of the time while my husband drove I could be on line down loading pictures and chatting , emailing, if you don't down load a lot of pics then pay for the less use of memory other wise pay for the larger amt.

I paid 99.99 for this item last year so at 29.99 its a good deal.

You only pay the monthly fee when you activate it. let it run out and you just have to activate it again you a phone number with it to

USB WiFi adapters are not designed to boost the range of WiFi devices installed on laptops. If you already have a laptop with WiFi capability, this device would not provide any improvement.
